Actually, that's not too far off the concept of the Origin 3K systems from SGI, their systems are built around different "bricks" from processor bricks, to I/O, and even the bus. Want to add on, pop in a brick, upgrade your backend, change the brick. Very modular, also great if something fails and needs to be replaced.
My NetGear router has MAC spoofing... it's WAN interface will assume the MAC address of any of my cards on the LAN interface.
another thing is i noticed RR was scanning me from one peticular address mail.sec.rr.com, did a little research and found that is the box that they use to scan for people running servers. Blocked the IP, no problems:)
DTS, SDDS, and Dolby Digital use off-film CD media.
Actually, that is incorrect. The dolby-digital track is commpressed in between the sprocket holes on the film, SDDS is located at the very edges on both sides of the film (for redundancy) and the analog track with timecode stamp is located just inside the sprocket holes. the timecode is used for syncing the DTS track which is contained on a seperate CD. Most theatres also use a failover to downmix to the analog track if any of the other tracks fail.
Actually, RR does the same thing, the quickest way to beat that though is to block anything coming from mail.sec.rr.com (don't let the name fool you). This will stop any port scanning that they do to you.
I think most of these posts are missing a point... DOS and the CLI are two different things. MS programmers routinly release cli based programs for doing all sorts of things. I think what's dead is the DOS based programs. But for most basic things (copy/ren/del) the cli is still living on strong.
You would think that M$ would have a bit more knowledge about the people they are trying to block. If you use Windows, chances are you will be running IE or NS, and you wouldn't see the message. But the people that they are trying to get to "upgrade" have more knowledge than that... hence the user-agent string. Do they seriously think it'll force the target people to upgrade, or just provide another easily cleared hurdle?
So if possession is 9/10 th's of the law, would i possess 9/10 th's of their bandwidth? -------------------------------------- -------------------------

don't suppose you noticed that: "Apple, Adaptec, ST Micro, Western Digital, Maxtor, LSI Logic and Hale Landis voted against "Generic Functionality" in ATA devices for content control." ------------------------------------------------ ---------------
I found that non-D3D chipsets aren't always nessecary with a suffiecently fast processor. I have a Dell Latitude C800 with a PIII-850, 128MB ram and a ATI RagePro, and that thing flies when i play UT in D3D mode, i was pulling over 60fps in 1024x768. I am guessing most of the other games will pull similar speeds. I use that for LAN parties now. -------------------------------------------- -------------------
So is this going to work like my.mp3.com did, you can only download you own songs? granted you can swap, but at what expense? i think it's just to appease the RIAA -------------------------------------------- -------------------
were you able to get the licenses for Win 95 donated, or did the school have to bite the bullet and pay for every copy to put on the machinces? -------------------------------------- -------------------------
I am currently a student at UTSA, and we have 3 campuses, the two that are used for distance learning are about 20 miles apart. Currently all they use is 4 monitors (2 big screen 60" tvs for the students, and 2 27" tvs for the prof). one camera is constantly trained on the prof (regaurdless of campus) and the other one will zoom in on a student when they press a button on the desk, also a mic will activate above their head. This is actually an effective way of teaching because any student can ask a question even when they are on a different campus. The two campuses are linked via a dedicated OC-3. But on a non-technical note, the distance learning does provide a gap that still can't be overcome from having the teacher there with you. Most students at the other campus don't like to ask questions. -------------------------------------- -------------------------
actually, one thing i have always liked about Pioneer was that it is very CD-R friendly... i have a DV-525 in the living room that will play anything i throw at it (along with partial discs), as well as a Pioneer DEH-76DH in my car and it too plays CD-R's without a hitch. I'm supprised to hear that yours is having trouble (btw, burned VCD's rock on that pioneer dvd player, even DTS cd's i've made) ------------------------------------------- --------------------

Problem with this...

I accidently read "Microsoft removes the veil" as "Microsoft reveals the evil."
How can this be listed as a spoiler... it's like the lady who got mad when someone told at the end of Titanic, the boat sank.
Has anyone ever looked at Sabre's Data Center?

Just put it behind some drywall and stick NetWare 3.1 on it... garunteed uptime

Why?
:)
Because I want that pretty blue light to turn on, damit.

Damn, this is going to be just like TV... 100 channels and still nothing good on....
ooooh... what about a Beo.... ah, forget it.

I am running 5.5 on 2K with no problem... the files are RealVideo clips, so just make sure your running RP8.
