think it's a bit foolish to say we can say much of anything definitive from our models at those type of timescales
And wouldn't it also be foolish (or rather irresponsible vs. our grandchildren) to just keep wasting and polluting like we do. I propose to do nothing (READ : Do nothing = STOP polluting) instead of keep experimenting with our environment.
they aren't telling people to replace their TV's do they ? If your NEXT TV-set is just a little bit more efficient, while costing you the same, (yes, more efficient TV's don't cost more to produce, only 10% of what you pay at the store is production cost - the price of that TV is set by marketeers, not by engineers)
that Electronic Waste Disposal Fee is necessary. it reduces the amount of heavy elements in your food. like this : the money is used to pay to set up the recycling plants, the recycling plants separate the heavy metals and other toxins from the waste, and the waste is cleaner (which, in the end ALWAYS ends up on your plate)
that's more than 500 deaths in a week. (if you consider population, that would mean 100000 US citizens, so yeah, reaction will come) I foresee another 50 years of 'disagreements'
as long as we have the sun, we will have temperature differences on the planet. as long as we have temperature differences, we have pressure differences. as long as we have those, there is wind.
there is ALWAYS wind. if there's no wind here, there certainly will be wind 500 miles from here. No wind is only possible when the the sun has gone out, AND the globe has stopped turning.
Could this be used as a new way to compress pictures? I would guess the compression itself would be computationally expensive, but the compression would be amazing.
indeed, the US has a rate of unintentional gun-deaths per year per 100K citizens (children playing, gun accidentaly goin off,...) that approaches the TOTAL number of gun deaths (murders included, not just accidents) per year per 100K citizens... those are HARD facts. http://www.gun-control-network.org/GF01.htm
windmills CHANGE THE CLIMATE
You mean they take energy out of the air/reduce average windspeeds ?
I think we cut down enough trees allready to offset a whole lot of windmills.
wind farms require subsidies

He's totally wrong. the 'energy pay-back time' or EPBT of big windmills ranges from 6 months to a year.
Read up on how the climate is modelled please.

is there really a difference in the result ? analog AND digital pictures are of such a high quality that YOUR EYE is the weak link.

stand-by mode
a classic example : a senseo coffe machine uses 20 watts when it is off ...

there'll be trouble in the middle east.

Ah, so that 'couple days' is also the lifetime of the CPU ?
'enemy' there's that word again. i hate that word. it's being used a lot to stop you thinking for yourself.

in europe, you're nothing with an account number, you also need the debetcard AND a PIN number.
Armed with that, criminals can easily charge those accounts
no they can't, they need a PIN (personal identification number). you can't just take money from an account.

here are the statistics for all crime murders:
http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_percap-crime-murders-per-capita
but my core reasoning stands : countries with STRICT gun control have fewer TOTAL gun-deaths than the US has ACCIDENTAL gun deaths.
sorry, I meant : in any other country on the list.

going briefly over the speed limit occasionally.
we're talking 1 x 9/11 per year in the UK. (3000+ deaths), a large part of these due to speeding.
If you used that same gallon of gasoline to power a generator to charge your electric car
like what happens in some hybrids ?
you wouldn't get any more efficiency
I call bullshit on you
