Actually, only about half a year. see: http://www.awea.org/pubs/documents/FAQ2002%20-%20web.PDF
Several studies have looked at this question over the years and have concluded that wind energy has one of the shortest energy payback times of any energy technology. A wind turbine typically takes only a few months (3-8, depending on the average wind speed at its site) to "pay back" the energy needed for its fabrication, installation, operation, and retirement.
The other issue is that you couldn't speed anymore. Games are played on a computer, not on the road.
Most driving is done because it is fun. errr... are you living in the same world as me ? Going 30 on the highway is *not* fun.
"Distributed energy" I have to see it first before i believe electricty companies giving up their grip on our b@lls. I would like to be in control of my own power instead of paying a monthly bill... give me those advanced batteries !
The site reads a bit like the site of a hot-air factury. from their front-page 'Social Technologies is a global research and consulting firm specializing in the integration of foresight, strategy, and innovation.' djeezes.
On energy, they say nothing about renewable energy like solar or wind, while it's clear even to me that solar will take a very big part of the production in the next years.
transportation : 'personal transportation coordinated through wireless computer networks,' I think they're spot-on. In 2025, nobody will be allowed to steer vehicles anymore. (currently there are more deaths per year on the road than you wanna know)
yup, no-one can stop free information flow anymore, the old media-conglomerates still try, but are losing the battle, Allthough i think search-engines will have a certain hand in the flow of information, but not more than that.
errata: Flanders is the dutch-speaking part of Belgium St. Martin is not celebrated in the whole of the Flanders region. In Belgium 11-11 is a national day off as Armistice.
Interesting enough, some games have 'hardcore' options : dying is dying. What about them? I imagine having a very-high level save of a living character is worth even more...
If nothing else, you could plug it into some sort of solar powered charger. That would reduce the need for coal powered electricity a bit, but probably not entirely. If you're not driving much, you can do with your car-roof-mounted solar array.
all very good points, but my i refresh your memory ? The day 3rd edition came out wotc recalled all 2nd edition books, to destroy them, so you couldn't keep playing 2nd (that was what they hoped anyway)... WTF ???
Has anything really changed 2nd --> 3rd ? I don't think so. The system changed a bit, but the world stayed the same, and that's the only thing that matters.

There are very few $100,000+ cars that outperform the $100,000 ...
but it is for your own safety ! /sarcasm.

Sorry, that should read 'at least 80 million years' (oldest bee-fossil found: Cretotrigona prisca)
yes, but bees predate homo pseudo-sapiens pseudo-sapiens, Probably by 200 million years.
But is that solar sheet in the stores yet ?
It amazes me that nowadays quarterly figures are analyzed, you can't compare an early spring season with the christmas season, can you ?
But when will 5 come out ?

I'm doing Diablo2 hardcore myself, and you can just re-copy an old version over your dead character, but i don't find that gratifying.

Wouldn't it cost more than double? But a lot depends on WHEN I guess.
In what price range are we talking ?
lets require a computer behind every wheel.

yup. 3 and 3.5 were invented just to make some bucks of it. this sort of shit happens when the nerds leave and commerce takes over.
