    You know, I saw a report(can't remember whose it was, might be UN human rights people) of human rights ratings in various countries. There were 7 countries worse than Iraq, including Columbia, Algeria, Syria, Indonesia, and North Korea.

    the astronauts were visible in the ship's shadow... because the lunar surface reflects light.

    the stars weren't visible... bacause they were too faint compared to everything else.

    there was no crater... bacause the rocket was not very powerful, and there was no air to carry a shock wave.

    How would a conspiracy factor into this?

    Could a 767 withstand a F-16? SAM missiles? Considering that the plan was to build the base in the middle of the pacific, security shouln't be too much trouble. I'm sure the US can spare some carriers or battleships or something, and if they don't, I'm sure they'd love to build more.

    IANABiologist, but I seem to recall that they can be harvested from umbilical cords or embryos that are already dead(you could say that violates the sectity of their body, but that's a matter of opinion.)

    Pokemon doesn't really prove anime is actually mainstream, just that the general public has heard of "them japanimation thingies". I don't really think that counts. It is also worth noting that pokemon became popular because it fits America's general notion of animation. For anime to accually be mainstream it will have to escape both the American image of animation and the image of anime as hyperviolent porn. Not impossible, but pokemon and a few music videos can't do it alone.

    Don't define a group by it's most extreme element. As someone said on another article a few days ago, there are 2 basic kinds of environmentalists: the scientific group who simply want to avoid mass extinction, and the hippy (or liberal arts, as they put it) group who is generaly opposed to anything that isn't cute and fuzzy.

    Accually, it still would have a decent value. Gold has 2 usefull properties: it doesn't rust, and it is very soft. In other words, people would still make jewelry out of it, even if they weren't worth as much.
