    MoC is just one, survivable irritation. I programmed it out of my sight without too much effort. Compared to never, ever being able to fix C + GTK to be anything remotely resembling pleasant to work with.

    Qt3 to Qt4 required you to change your code to support Qt4.

    Annoying, but pretty easy from first hand experience. Compared to nigh on impossible according to reports I have seen from devs attempting similar "updades" across GTK versions that share little other than name and warped attempt to make C sit up and do OOP tricks it just isn't suited to.

    Agreed, the MOC was and is idiotic and unnecessary. But lies firmly in the "wart" category compared to the inoperable liver disease of GTK(1/2/3/)(+)

    Doing that OOP stuff in plain old C is just a travesty. Should have ended many years ago, but for all the self-interested spin and PHBs involved. Anybody remember that company that lost $40 million writing a file browser for Gnome (Nautilus) that ultimately was completely discarded except for some of the expensive artwork?

    I like OpenOffice just as much as the next gal or guy, but it never competed with Office. You need something like Outlook before we can even start talking about competing, and then it's just the start of it.

    Nonsense. I haven't used any Microsoft office products for years, and it isn't because I haven't been doing word processing, spreadsheeting and presentations. Judging by the download numbers (hundreds of millions) I guess I am not alone.

    If Libreoffice does end up dominating (Openoffice still has the most old and new users because of inertia and name recognition) then it will be convincing evidence of the evolutionary superiority of copyleft.

    At this point I'm betting on Libreoffice + LGPL. Hope I don't get any "libertarian license" jihadis steamed about that, but this just seems like reality.

    The only way anybody will get sucked into buying an ipad mini is if they never compare the resolution, processors specs, etc, to the Nexus 7, among others. Going to be some pretty annoyed Apple customers out there when they discover the trick, possibly by being laughed at.
