    Good point. Buying used cd's shouldn't show up on their sales reports. Selling your used cd's will help increase the supply so that people won't have to buy new ones! Plus it will give you some extra cash. I am currently selling my entire collection on Half.com, it's a great system.

    Man, whatever you do, don't install it. For a .5 upgrade, it totally fscked my webbrowsing. All the animated gifs broke.. They became all _Flashy_ and half loaded. Rollovers would reload the page, and lots of other annoying things.

    In any security system, there is always a weak link. In this case, I would guess that the weakest link is the client's machine. Ryan said that clients could access their account from a cyber cafe. I don't see how they can hope for a secure system with such lapses in security. It is very reasonable to expect that that machine could be bugged and tracking the clients every movement. How could a clients data be secure on HavenCo's servers if the client doesn't have a secure machine?

    if you check out isonews.com you'll see that there are all sorts of DVD Movies listed available for download in Movie swapping forms... Granted, these are not exact copies.. they are lossy compressed so that they can fit on 1 or 2 regular cdrom.. They are using the new DiVX format (combo of mpg and wmp)... if you check out how they encode all these, the first step is getting DeCSS

    As much as I support DeCSS and the ability to reverse engineer things, your argument is not as strong as you think it is...

    I was just playing with my I-Opener. I wiped out QNX for LEM. I only had 16 megs of Flash memory to hold the OS. The LEM disttribution I installed had X windows, ssh, links, mpg123, and other typical linux stuff. I am quite impressed!

    IFrame Ads
    Layer Ads
    Javascript includes
    I like the idea of blocking the AD domains better.

    The example of code optimization they gave was a DVD player. After the first frame, pretty much all the needed code optimizations where completed and stored for the movie.

    The time it takes to re learn the optimization is very very short when compared to power on/off cycles.

    All we need is a list of all sites on some server, and clients w/ the blocking software installed. The clients would just report weather or not they could access the urls....

    Though, it doesn't seem like it is all the cpu intensive, so, I'd think it could be done w/ a couple of computers and big pipe..
