a superb ability to utilise air currents, thermals and ground effects
so THAT is what I have been seeing up in the sky with the lights and wierd shapes. Those neon lights on the underside of this creature have had everyone confused, everyone thinks it is a ufo. Can't wait to see one in the daytime, so I can see all the decals that make the bird go faster...after all, if the stickers work for rice-mobiles, shouldn't it work for dinosaurs?
I can only imagine that ghosting would be far worse on a shooter, since with today's high-end cards you are getting insane variable framerates anyways compared to 5 years ago. TV on the other hand the frame rate has always been set at 30fps for news and talk shows or 24fps for your movies, dramas and sitcoms. I have watched a Philips LCD TV in the dentist's waiting room, and I could not notice any real ghosting for TV, but have seen it MANY times on computer games with LCD monitors...
I remain skeptical to the cost/benefits of this new strobe until I compare the two side by side
I remain skeptical. The known laws of physics in the universe seem to be changing on a daily basis, like stars orbiting planets now? If it takes this massive amount of computing power and time to calculate the state of a universe (mind-boggling in itself) wouldn't all that work be wasted by one little twist that God or whoever decides to throw into the equation to prove us humans are more clueless than we already are?
I do come from a Republican family (and not an AC for doing so), but also hold no allegiance with a party since I don't agree with all of their ideals. Stop drawing conclusions based on what I listen to, because even though Rush, Hannity, Savage, O'Reilley, etc. may be tooting their own horns the issues of the day I don't always agree with the host's smarmy logic. So I listen to conservative radio, big deal. Does that also equate me with being stupid? typical of Canadian thinking...
After all the errors rolled in the last election, I cried foul with millions of others in my state. I do not recognize Gregoire as the Governer until there is a revote since the margin was so narrow and hopelessly corrupted.
--- /Ooh ooh, logical fallacy! Yes, I remember this from ENG 101!
what irks me is that Christine Gregoire is moving so quickly on a series of mandates which I hear about so often on KVI or KTTH, when her even being there is so questionable. So my State now is set to impose penalties on spyware...Where will this revenue be going to? A 'General/Slush/Trust Fund' or to damages to the victims of spyware (in an attempt to buy her office with the appeal of $$ to us proles)
my point exactly, the Campus owns the network, if it is in an on-campus dorm. The campus has the right to pull users that don't conform to the policy that they probably signed to get their RJ-45 jack to go hot. The school I went to was incredibly strict on what was 'acceptable' and what wasn't on their dorm network. Even poking around for proxies to bypass WebSense earned a trip to the Dean's office.
I have a better solution: become a BOFH, get your hands on a used LART, learn how to properly use it, and the students will be eating out of your hand in no time.
If that doesn't work, have a little chat with the Admin, present the security scenario, and ask to yank the plug on any offending machine as a security threat. Corporations in the real world don't tolerate unsecure boxen, why should the school? Students will learn VERY quick not to cross you.
Such carbon nanotube-filled plastics are already being used by automakers in fuel lines because they are conductive and can thus be grounded to release static electricity, which can ignite flammable gasoline
I have a question that still remains unanswered. what are the ramifications of having a 40,000km cable that is primarily composed of a semiconducter, carbon, stretching up to orbit. Also compare the size such an antenna, with recent solar activity being any indicator, and what effect will this have on the geoclimate and magnetic pole position?
Have we really thought everything through, before rushing into such an epic project, with potentially epic consequences (either a leap in evolution, or the end of an age)? 2018 may seem like a long time from now but for most of the/. crowd, it's only half a lifetime.
There are some things that the GPL should stay out of. This is a perfect case to demonstrate that the GPL is not the perfect solution for every situation. Hopefully this is a wake up call for all those who treat the GPL as gospel. Back to the drawing board for RMS, I suppose.....
Even so, it's not a big loss for McD's as a company to pay for an extra hour of the manager's time. Hell, you are probably doing the manager a favor, if he is hourly. Those chumps are barely getting paid above minimum wage as it is.
And in that critical moment when everyone is milling around trying to decide if it's finished compiling, you know someone, somewhere will be using a laser pointer to entertain their cat, named Schrodinger.
Like most rodents, I am sure hamsters are prolific breeders. Barry Manilow, Barry White or Isaac Hayes would all be good choices to set 'the mood'. However, Tom Jones has the magic when it comes to the animal kingdom...haven't you seen Mars Attacks?
Thank you for eloquently elaborating my little one liner... If I walk into a Starbucks or a Borders some day in the near future or even a state fair that has WiFi hotspots sponsored by whoever the vendor trying to attract business I would love to be able to stroll by, check my email or make a VoIP call. I am fully aware of who is sponsoring my session, as they force you to watch a 30-second streamed advertisement upon login. Also, the recipient will get an small banner, link or token as well so that they will know who paid for the bandwidth. This is nearly the same as Hotmail or Yahoo putting their ads in outgoing 'free' emails.
Interesting really, when you compare LaserDisc to concept of SACD, the ideas are pretty similar. Have no idea what the bitrate equivalent would be for a LD, but SACD follows a higher definition waveform, since it is recorded at a 192Khz sampling rate. CD's are only 44.1Khz.
Lets take your idea and bring it back to a theoretical world 70 years ago, during World War II. Say Hitler hadn't started practicing it and it was already a widely adopted worldwide practice ala Gattaca, would you or I even exist today? Eugenics is certainly not practical in any means, since it strikes one of the most fundemental, basic and primitive of principals that not just Mankind was built upon, but every living thing on the planet. The ability to evolve and create other Life.
Besides, who is privileged enough to decide whether a particular strain of genes (ie. Person) is desirable or undesirable? Someone who pays lots and lots of time and money (ie. Life Force) to either become a 'Doctor' or a 'Politician' or a 'Tyrant'? Or should that choice go to the person who actually OWNS that strain of genes, that person himself? I would rather CHOOSE who to marry and procreate with decide who would be the best fit for my own genes to promote traits, compensate for and perhaps reverse undesirable traits, and yes, even producing the flaws to avoid uniformity (evolution at work!)
To put this into sort-of a perspective: the physicial, psychological and genetic traits of a Male and Female is like looking at Public Key/Private Key sets. You will never find a "Perfect" match with anyone else out there, but some matches DO fit better than others.
Besides, it would be a very boring world if everyone looked the same.
Why, that's the sound of spadefuls of dirt hitting Slashdot's coffin.
Until I see that, on Netcraft, I'm calling shenanigans.
if you have a multichannel setup (4+ speakers) you can always try and produce some creepy 3D audio, making it seem like it's from a moving source.
yeah, but does it run Linux?
indeed, the Sidewinder Freestyle. came with motocross madness 2. d-pad was atrocious on it though, imo.

Somebody oughta alert Art Bell to this!

Yeah, I suppose now the IRS can also appreciate the irony of getting 'audited'.
jeez...nerds have no sense of humor
Hooray for consumerism! Where's the boarding platform again?

wasn't that the whole premise behind LaserDisc, an analog optical video recording?
Think about this:
