The really clever thing about this was, they never went to the moon six times, they tried not to go to the moon actually seven times, 'coz one time they failed in their attempt not to go the moon, but luckily the three astronauts survived their attempt at not going to the moon.

The Mandriva server sent my desktop a message saying the upgrade was available would I like to proceed? I indicated yes, my system automatically downloaded the upgrade, took around 3 hours and considering it was an over 3 GB upgrade package not bad.
Upgrade package downloaded, it asked me was it OK to reboot "yes" I indicated.
One reboot later and I'm running the latest KDE and the latest Mandriva with no pain, no CD or DVD burning, usually for reasons unbeknown to myself, upgrading would involve reinstalling whilst keeping my original home partition, and getting everything working again usually a painful and frustrating process, it seems like those days are done!
Well done Mandriva, I will most certainly be spending some money in you're shop.

By keeping source code a secret, companies like Microsoft, hold back computer science, if when windows95 was put on the market the source code had been published as well, thousands and thousands of coders from all over the world would have been able to work on it, adding features and removing bugs. People will wave their hands about and cry how will these coders get paid? Simple - they could have been paid in just the same way as any other public servant or military personnel or teacher is paid.
The more that companies support and use open source, the more everybody benefits. Why do you think Google have made Android open source? It is so every one can benefit. Making the source code for an operating system closed source, is a narrow minded and antisocial form of selfishness.
I sort of understand what you mean, like derivatives are something of raw materials that can be useful when the raw material is processed, so you can kind of define derivatives, as the process of globalising American trade imbalance, by flogging American debt in terms of bad mortgages, to derive a high standard of living without truly paying for it - by making real stuff to swap it for at a fair price, how stupid do you think we are?

This was not a problem then, because America's trade balance was extremely healthy, Europe's cities were flattened in the second world war, so their productive ability was very low.
America lent the rest of the world oodles of money, so as to fund the export of tobacco, this fund of foreign currency is starting to dry up, as people realize how bad tobacco is for you.
The only way for America to cover up it's enormous trade imbalance was to sell mortgages, to people who could not afford them, then to sell those dodgy mortgages abroad to get badly needed foreign currency, so as to fund their profligate life style, American fuel is still only about half the price of European fuel. America has vast amounts of it's own oil, yet still imports oil, it gets away with this because oil is priced in dollars all over the world.
If China starts to off load it's enormous pile of dollars, then the whole house of cards will come tumbling even faster.

I am not a rocket scientist nor a mathematician, so I would ask all those far cleverer than me, how big would the hydrogen balloon have to be, to get the whole thing to geostationary orbit.
As an aside, a hydrogen balloon would be a cute way, to take water to the desert.
Iceland has lots of electricity, they say they are going to use all that spare electricity to smelt aluminum, no - use it to extract hydrogen from the sea.
Use the potential energy that exists in the hydrogen, to fly the balloon to an area of desert, then you use the oxygen that all ready exists in the desert and connect it to the hydrogen, that is in the balloon, viola you have taken both energy and water to the desert.

Nobody seems to be mentioning the enormous environmental damage caused by commuting to work, keeping the office cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
There is also the degradation of the earth's surface by covering a significant portion of the earths surface with offices, that instead could be covered with trees.
The only purpose for all these offices, is to maintain the status quo, for the minority of people who insist that their role in life, is to think for us all.
I agree, there is however, a way out of this problem with a new kind of coop. The coop workforce elects its leader from its own members, for a term agreed in the coops constitution, if the leader does not pass muster at the end their term, they do not get reelected. This is the way of the Mondragon corporation.

I have the same problem as you, I am also running the same OS as you. I am running an AMD 64 and graphics drivers installed from NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-8178-pkg2.run. If you are not running the same graphics driver as me it sounds like an OS problem. I would love to get this program working. We should share notes.

Ok so Microsoft takes Tom Tom to court in the US, I should imagine the Dutch people would have something to say about that, sort of like get lost.
