    Great that we are finding new species! If we keep this up maybe we can replace the ones that are going extinct with these new ones. Besides, the other ones were getting old anyway.

    I don't see it. Microsoft has been pretty successfull as a software-only company.

    Sun on the other hand is getting bought up because they failed miserably with exactly that strategy.

    Btw, this is the strategy that left Apple in the dust behind Intel and MS.

    what I don't get about hawking radiation is why this effect would cause a black hole to evaporate.

    From the descriptions it seems that these particles are being created spontanously outside the black hole, and one falls in. To me, that would mean that the black hole actually gains mass (one particle).

    microscopic black holes...some of these black holes grow to form the center point of an entire galaxy.

    but that wont happen at the hardon collider, because the black hole doesn't have any mass near it to grow. It's not like it's being created on a big rock or anything..

    Well, if we use coal to build solar panels, we are slowly replacing coal with solar cells. Which should be worth it. The further down the road we go, the more power used to construct a solar panel will be coming from green sources.

    Around eighty % is still incredible, not least when you have a competitor like AMD. But I guess companies like Intel do what they can to instill fear in their employees to get them to work harder.

    Seriously though, they had some really cool sci-fi/fantasy in those books, pretty much as good as any conan book or similar.

    I hate to see all these comments talking about how evolution mechanisms are failing in the modern world.

    We can't escape natural selection, no matter how many pills and safety mechanisms we introduce into society.

    Women just tend to become more and more picky with whom they mate. And while things like good eye sight become less important, other things take their place. Things like having lots of money, social skills/social network, an athletic body, cooking skills and so on.

    Here in Europe, the number of babies born per adult keep falling. This means it is actually getting harder to reproduce than it was in a past, poorer Europe.
