    I think they ment that since the network traffic is encrypted they would be breaking the law to find out what is being transmitted. I'm not a lawyer but since the police need cause or a warrent to check your car, house etc. to investigate I would think this would be true. I can't see encripted traffic as cause enough.

    I'm NOT a fan boy but I like Gentoo, It works and I use it for production servers - hearing idiots in the background (O MY GOD!!!!!) All of the stable packages I've used for Gentoo have been a couple of revisions back. How new and unstable at that? All of this is the same crap that used to happen at computer meets - My 800XL will blow the doors off your dork ass 286. If it works, leave people alone. If it gets more popular than your distro, then obviously it's doing something right.

    Our political body is corrupt because it's become a career and not "serving the people". NCR is just exercising there rights. You really can't blame them. It's our (Americans) fault. People don't get involved so bad laws happen. As I've said before - companies should be made to come up with a prototype before they can patent it. If a company cannot prove they had a prototype then the patent should be revoked.

    Why does it matter if Caldera provided the hardware? Unless there was a specific aggreement that was signed, Caldera/Sco would have no rights to the code.     Don't forget - the Clinton Administration was in power when the DMCA was inacted. It was the LIBERALS that created the laws that were are dealing with now. We had three terms of a republican president - the economy was great. We had two terms of slick and we have a mess. John Ashcroft has to enforce the laws - and as much as I don't like some of them he doing his job.

I head and 18 year old say she can barely remember the gulf war and they history books had a paragraph on Vietnam and nothing to say about WWI or II.     LA county tax officials are just a bunch of liberal elitist that think they own everything. All they care about is money. Tax the crap out of everyone and make them bleed. They think that they are business and can charge what they want. Tax the hell out of businesses so we can get rich - err help people .     The church has a right to ban those sites because they provide the service. If they receive public funding, and the law says it's ok to allow porn - that's another. Next are we going to say, parents can't block porn site from their children? So if it's bad for children, it's bad for us. The US government is trying to convince children smoking is bad for you - but it's ok for your parents? The statistics show that since the 60's violent crime, divorce, molestation, rape and etc. have risen sharply. I applaud the church for final taking a stand. You can cry free speech all you want but ignoring the morals is just plain ignorance. This stuff messes with your head and degrades women. What if that was your sister, mother, wife in playboy? It's somebody's loved one. Everyone wants to say - Thank God the church isn't allowed to tell us what to do but wait until some punk decides he wants to "put a cap in your a$$" because he didn't like the way you looked at him. That shows you what "do your own thing" and moral relativism has done to our society.

    You'r right. I turned out ok becasue of my parents. We had guns, and my father taught me how to shoot. HE took responsiblity for my upbringing and taught me right from wrong. I've played all those violent games and I'm ok. Plus, everybody is too woried about upsetting someone and not speaking their true views. God forbid if someone wouldn't get elected if they pissed someone off. I like Bush, I don't agree with his views on the internet, but moraly he's a good guy. Gore, I can't trust what he says. If he invented the Internet, maybe we should bring him up on charges because his Internet indirectly killed all those kids. (And watch how fast he back paddles) :)

    Yes are rights are being taken away. I can site many specific examples in my own home town to prove it. The problem - people don't get involved. It's easier for them to set back and be armchar congressmen than to write letters, get involved with there local goverment. I'm guilty of it. My questions is, What about MP3.com? Seems like a slap in the face for them to possibly have a law passed that would have protected them. Just another example of keepen the little man down
