If anyone's played the game "Acrophobia" on Won.net now flipside.com I believe. The previous versions of the games included time out periods (commercial breaks?) where they'd play 3 or 4 15 second flash animation ads, then continue on with the game. It was rather impressive at the time, but annoying to say the least.
Why should I be made to feel like some kind of dirty old man or psycho-path by having to venture into the "adult section" of a store just to pick up that copy of Quake X or SOF or whatever other harmless game gets slapped with this absurd rating? All this is going to do is flag games with a, "Look at him/her! They're disgusting for buying such titles."
For a province that wants to attract high tech business at their new "Tech Park" they're not sending a great message to any of those publishing type companies out there who just might want to venture out this way. "Sureeee comon out! Setup shop, but we'll red flag all your titles due to a few specs of blood."
The NDP party of British Columbia.. NDP no longer stands for "New Democratic Party" it's "No Damned Progress".
Are you dumb?
If that were so easy to accomplish why do people not do similar things for Half-Life keys and Quake 3 Arena? Oh right, It's not worth it, unless your time is worthless. Buy the game cheapskate.
This tax already exists in Canada, but somehow I don't even notice the levy. Blank CDR Media is cheap enough that you don't really think about it.
The tax was proposed over 2 years ago, then after being shot down a few times it finally came into effect last year.
DSL availability and quality totally depends on where you live. Being in British Columbia Canada we're blessed with some very fast and cheap ADSL. (Telus.net DSL)
I've heard my fair share of horror stories about Pac Bell DSL in particular. For now unfortunately there aren't too many options, Cable or DSL, it just depends which is better in your location. I am also of the opinion that you get what you pay for. You want connection powaz the Telco's are going to make you pay through the nose. (Ala $1600/mo for a T1 here). The cable companies and Telco's don't compete, they're in bed together! It's amazing how much bandwidth/backbones they share when it boils down to it. They have similar pricing schemes and put on a show for the consumer. (PacBell DSL Cops Commercial Spoof) What it basically comes down to is, if you're a nerd, and you need a phat connect, chances are you'll pay far more than the average joe. It just depends on how far you're willing to go for that connection. The more you pay the more you'll get in my experience, it's as simple as that.
