Supermount is nice for cdroms and whatnot, but using it on writeable media is bad. When I used it with floppys it wouldn't finish writing for a while, and if you remove it without syncing things get fucked. I guess this is why macs do software eject for floppies.
Every time Microsoft does anything, slashdot gets a flood of submissions untill a story is posted. It's not that it's newsworthy, it's that the flood of submissions is annoying enough that the admins often post the story to shut people up.

grep "xercist"/dev/random...you'll find me in there someday:)
That would depleat the kernel entropy pool. It's better to use '/dev/urandom'. And unless you aren't bothered by a simple 'binary file matches' you might want to use 'grep -a'
bah, I thought you were repling to somthing else, I've further made a fool of myself. Anyhow, I hadn't heard of a a kernel level bug that allowed remote root access. Are you sure that one of your servers didn't get exploited?
Ouch. I did that once whilst trying to demonstrate linux's file permissions to a friend. I had ment to 'su nobody' but somehow didn't. I stopped it before it did any damage, however.
[root@foobar ~]# rm -rf /
rm: You have run tried rm (the delete command) with the options 'recursive' and 'force' this would delete '/' and all of it's subdirectories.
This is DANGEROUS and could BREAK YOUR COMPUTER
If you are sure this is what you want to do, type 'okay' at the prompt, otherwase, yust press enter.

I've never seen a two row dip that had you put in jumpers any way other then perpendicular. And you usualy need only two jumpers at the most.

I just read the article. In a nutshell, proforming sugery right away causes further trauma before the body has a chance to try and stablize itself. Interesting.
I emailed the creators of the message and got this response
bacilly you got it.
The binary number at the upper right is the number of line from the end of
the message. And you will find a similar number at the lower left of each
section. This number of the number of the actual line. Those values are
simply reference for continuity.
I got the same thing, and more errors in the next section. I should have section 2 translated by this evening, email me if you want a copy of what i have.

It's only $5 to download it, and vote on what you want worked on. Worth the money IMHO
The main diffrence is that the internet cafe provides easy access to pr0n.

Please cite an example of a remote root hole in kernel from the 2.2 or 2.4 stable tree if you want to be atken seriously.

I'm currently on the mandrake security announcement mailing list. They put out alerts and patches for all thier older distros.
http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/security/
They have a page for 6.0, thier first distro.
Please explain.
I don't think so, when you hit a mouse it'll squeak cause it hurts, and is perhaps hoping to startle any creature harming it.
How about a link? Slashdot doesn't allow whatever tag you used in comments. Next time try the preview button. (not that I ever do)

Celerons ran 100MHz starting with the 800, I think that WAS released in Dec 2000, but i may be wrong.
