Was advertised on Television in NY (SUNY, Alderson? Anderson? not sure). Begs the question- who's watching?
Their article is nothing new, really, it was just the first documented 'story'. In fact, shouldn't they be tossed in prison for port scanning and gaining access to unauthorized resources?
Puts a damper on Free nodes- I wonder how many people are going to spend the money on wireless with the intent to give it away for free if, every time they turn it on, they are probed almost as maliciously as when the cable light comes on.
The Ultima Saga (3 to 8) I feel are probably some of the best thought out games I've ever played. Ultima IV, in particular, given a single goal... and Ultima V where you had to choose between your your friend (Iola) (i think i remember that far back) And a village. Death for one or the other.
Course, Unreal Tournament is pretty popular right now with me... and I LOVE Civilization and Alpha Centuri... but they get old (and boring) quickly.
Sounds like cookie cutter games are the wave of the future, and I don't know if I like it. Original thoughts limited by tools.... time to design new tools:)
Made from environmentally friendly jelly fish is now being used to deforest millions of acres of land. Instead of just killing the trees, this new compound simply causes them to drop their leaves.
In other news, 14 were wounded when an RPG was fired into their transport...
How's about stamp out racism and war by education instead?
There is always bad press- 'good press' is also known as 'slanted', 'spin', or just down right lying.
Open source is great- now back it up with hardware, IT support, and education. The cost of 'free' software is starting to get a bit higher.
Now tack on having to reteach all of those 'schools's instructors to use the linux desktop.
Yes, linux can exist in the same breath as an MS product, but saying Open Source and waving your hands will not hide the costs that are so conviently left out.
... its cheaper to build a dedicated box for compression:(
Yes, there won't be a nifty display (unless you buy a LCD panel) but you won't be limited by their design.
I know it's been in the discussion lists earlier, but... an AMD box runs around 250$, add a 200$ capture/ MPEG compression card and you are up to 500 with a 40 gig HD. Thats alot of space... there is still programming issues, but... could be conquerd if the desire was there:)
The legal industry probably generates 50% of the Fed Ex traffic;P Shipping all those reams of paper back and forth.
Software to sort intelligently has been around for quite some time- googles 'i feel lucky' link is probably a great example of this. The number of times i've hit what i'm looking for with a few judicious '+'s using google is unbelievable.
Sounds almost like they are reinventing the wheel...
I hope there is at least some study done on whether or not there has been any gene contamination from the mouse cells. There is concern that several of the strains of 'allowed' stem cell lines are already contaminated with mouse DNA and not viable for placement into humans...
I know this sounds like a troll, but honestly- maybe the work simply did nothing for the critics. Of course it sounds good to the artist, but if it doesn't strike the viewer in any way, it sucks, period.
And yes, I speak from experience- I'm a photographer with a few showings to my name. I recently had a photograph I was simply in love with- and it was hate by review.
So dont' take it too harshly- maybe what you thought was art was something they had seen over and over.... and therefore meant nothing to them.
... and got knocked thru the air into the drywall when I accidently touched a trace. The tubes on the board would explode as they ionized differently- there was no mechanism to sync two tubes when one didn't ionize at the exact instant as the other.
Result? Pain, and lots of it.
I'm not sure what all the parts are, but they are all recycled as much as possible. Why make new parts when old ones work just as well?
Reloading is possible but difficult due to the way it's wound backwards- there's a little gear that turns in one direction only. Not too badly an impedient if you are careful tho.
www.truetech.com - has a wide assortment of communities as well. And the video quality at low bandwidth is still impressive!
Been running it for 3 years... all the end user needs is a java enabled and you are set.
A StarTrek book starts out with Kirk "Space Diving" into the atmosphere.
Imagine it- free fall for a really really long time:)
And if the ship is coming to pieces, I'd much rather take my chances solo than in something that is falling apart around me.... this should be looked into.
Of course, the number of ships that have fallen apart in orbit are, hrmmm, none?:)
When you look carefully at the requirements the issue is simply this: Pay someone else to spam the net for 'monitoring'.
It's probably much cheaper for them to have you spam vs their bandwidth requirements. And you do all the damage, not them.
No thanks. Run math problems, find by me, run spam searching, go elsewhere.

And those have sold so well.
No remote control so I can dial from my couch? Where's the advantage?
May I remind you of the Anita Hill's difficulties?
:P

But... I do prefer WINE at home

Errr, actually, that's what I meant. I mean, I was talking about the contamination with virii ... and left that out. Sorry ;-)

Heard a sonic boom- knocked our dominos game off the table .... Ban Concords :)

Perhaps a Genome project again?
Just visited the Greenwhich 'standards' - a bronze bar with two nubs that you could lay a ruler on to measure it's accuracy.
A sad, sad day.
