I think what they mean is that it costs a certian amount of money to file in court, plaintiff usually pays. In an appelate court, whoever appeals pays, and if they win the appeal, they dont have to. I'm not sure if DVDCCA had to pay or if the court had to eat it.
This small win for free speech and the computing community gives me a sense that the legal system still can work. If only we can get it to the US Supreme, then, perhaps the DMCA could be ruled unconstitutional.
Like hell! Me and millions of others all over will tell you that it DID NOT FAIL! www.minidisco.org! My MD-MS722 works better than ANY MP3 player EVER will.
My 60GXP works just FINE. It DOES, however, have a hole that says DO NOT COVER. DON'T COVER IT! In fact, dont stack another drive on top of it. Maybe that will solve some problems.
Are you from the USA? If you ARE, sorry if it offends. THe US Constitution grants the President 30 days (or is it 90?) to do as he pleases attacking a country if it used force against us. If he went beyond that, he could be impeached. Congress is simply declaring war, constitutionally clearing the President (he doesn't have any more power than before, just he isn't limited time wise.
Yeah, you can - as I did. Problem was, I used his credit card (for an MD player) and payed him cash, so I had no proof that I payed him. Of course, my dad's a liar, and had I had another judge I would've won (all the judges know he's a liar, except for this new guy I got.)

Yes, the constitution doesn't limit children, but in effect, states do. Here's an example: I bought a car. My dad wrecked it. He wouldn't pay for it and he didn't have insurance. So im stuck with a pile of metal. I can't wreck his car and get away with it. Why? Hes my PARENT. He owns everything I own. I bought the car in my name on my dime. GO figure.
I think popunder ads are more annoying. Window focus leaves that of the originating window, the window pops up and then *poof* disappears to the bottom. Closing the window (in win2k) makes the originating window blink wildly for attention in the taskbar.
Trust me. It was MUCH MORE than a gunshot. First, i thought the roof caved in, then I thought it was a propane tanker exploding. Definatley louder than gunshot.
I live in the (hick) town where it landed. It's called Salladasburg. Has about the same area has williamsport and 1/100th the population:P No meteor landed as far as i can tell:(
actually now that i think of it, it wasnt a tablespoon, it was a spoon from the kitchen drawer, probably not much more than a teaspoon. the LD50 on caffiene is 5000mg iirc.
Oh yeah, THERE's something useful. Find aliens in a radio spectrum, get nothing if you do, and god knows you may NEVER find em. Wowee, worth my idle CPU cycles. With rc5 there is a definate winning point, and you get $2k. pfft.
PCs replaced by something 100% prprietary?

PS2 As PC

Not only us geeks care about open standards. Hence why IBM's PC took over Apple's share of the home computer market. And now, unlike in the 80's, PCs are MUCH more well set than Apple was at the time. I dont see the proprietary PS2 replacing my PC anytime soon.
it was Sony and Phillips.

The Big Three are FOX, NBC, and ABC. CBS might be in that mix, too.
5 points only go so far. I get 5 almost weekly, but it is hard to deal moderation everywhere it is needed without starting a moderator flame war.

Convert them to the Light Side of the Force
Yeah, we wouldn't want them on the fattening side of the Force.
Horrible clicking? Call IBM. Now. It's called a head crash. It will lead to doing it more often, and it's a definate sign of imminent drive failure.

It was off topic? ICANN let VeriSign sell them, and ICANN and VeriSign have spammed the hell out of me for it. How is that off topic?
Does this mean their spam will stop?
...
NAH, it'll probably mean more spam from VeriSign.
Because the light is off. A watch reflects light, a laptop makes its own with a cold cathode light.
Every time PayPal changes their agreement, it sends me a notice. I guess you just don't pay enough attention.

They aren't? Funny, they are. Without a license, in most states, it is illegal to own one.

in VERY RARE cases (witness protection) they will reissue them.

I used to dump a tablespoon of caffiene into a 20oz bottle of Jolt. Stopped that when I chugged a bottle, i thoguht I was getting Parkinson's Disease!
