iPod is the solution to nothiung, its just another junk MP3 player that costs $400 and only works on Macs. For that price you could get an XM reciever and 20 months worth of programming, and you'd probably get to listen to some cool new music. So, with $400, you get an iPod and can't use it because you have no mac and no music anway, or you get an XM player and 20 months worth of music.
#3. Well, the only reason their doing this is to NOT admit guilt, get out of what would probably be a bigger payoff if it went to court, AND get good PR in the process.
It's the kids huh?
No, it COULDN'T be the fact that most are payed quite well ($40k average here, and $40k is good money in central PA), and that they have tenure after 3 years. Can't be fired without a court order. Yup. No testing, just a job with a $3k pay increase yearly to a max of roughly $58k, with free insurance, 3 weeks sick and a 3 month mid-year break. No WAY could it be the teachers having the greatest job terms around!
I'm surprised they lasted this long. IRC itself is on a long spiral down, thanks to the ungrateful bastards that DoS the servers. People can't afford all that extra bandwidth. Where will the skript kiddiez go after the Big 3 die? MSN Chat?
I'll click a link, and switch windows. IE's windows blinks (like an AIM instand message window does when you get a message), then the new popunder ad blinks, causing the original window to blink frantically and annoyingly until i click it AND view the ad. Ugh.
aww, boo hoo! My 8Mbit cable modem i was ONLY paying $40 for is gone! The provider went OUT OF BUSINESS, and the resaler, instead of just dumping me on the street gave me what I see as SHODDY SERVICE!
Horrible? For being the only ones cut from @Home at this time, and having MOST OF THEIR CUSTOMERS on their own network, with a simple change to DHCP IP assignment, they did very, very good compared to all the DSL providers. I have mod points, and instead of moderating you down, I decided to reply.
Hey now, revolution doesn't HAVE to be violent.
I bet if we simply got a very, very large amount of people to well, example: not pay income tax. if the number was sizable enough so that they couldn't jail all of us, they couldn't do anything. Get 5 million or so supporters to say "No tax until the DMCA is gone" - I feel in a way it IS taxation w/o representation - Hard to explain, but it's there.
Problem with indie (movies) is they're hard to find in a town of only 30K.

Great. I thought those DeCSS backup freaks had problems, but I just got out a blank and copied DeCSS, SmartRipper, and FlasK to a CD. It's in a jewel case in the floorboards now.
How can our rights be violated like this? I believe it was T. Jefferson that said every 25 years a revolution is healthy. Well, guys, it's been about TWO HUNDRED and 25.
Donate to the EFF. I can't follow my own advice, as I'm in debt right now. Write to the judge that handed down the motions to dismiss these appeals. Let them know how you feel. Make sure to let them know they won't get your retainer vote.
Being a minor in this country sucks. Looks like by the time I'm an adult (2 yrs) it won't be much better.
Probably the different framerate. IIRC, PAL DVDs are 30fps, and NTSC DVDs are 29.97fps. I don't have my info right here, but it has something to do with the way PAL DVDs are encoded.
I meant same weight as in we can't argue it unconstitutional because a treaty is (again, IIRC) given the same supremacy as the constitution itself. And knowing how well our legal system works, it probably will never be deemed unconstitutional, which it seems to be.
However, without the racial/hate censorship, it does seem more acceptable, and it won't violate 1st amendment too bad.
So this one takes away constitutional rights, and gets around the protections - IIRC, treaties approved by legislature and the executive branch carry the same weight as the Constitution itself. Uhoh. This looks like it could be worse than the DMCA.
Although, perhaps, since it says singing states WILL create (it doesn't say that the treaty DOES) legislature banning these things, we might be OK.
It's things like this - "No computers on pain of death" that make the US seem slightly better. It's also things like this that make the Taliban even worse.
Hitler did it the same way.
Slowly changing the rules, getting people into office and getting popular support...
And then when he has enough rules changed.. BAM. Nazi Germany.

The one reason I wont see the movie is i doubt it has those "adult jokes" like all of Pixar's movies have. You know, the sruff for the older crowd in the movie, thew stuff that flies over the kid's head.

that'll probably last 6 months and then they'll delink.

Don't knock ANYTHING, ESPECIALLY drugs if you haven't tried them. I would NEVER touch coke, but don't knock it unless you've felt the addiction.

pfft. Whino.
1. Well, 1 million + customers? 100,000 is a lot, considering they did it on a Saturday in a few hours. Give em a Sunday break!
:P
2. Okay, ATT's customer service does suck.
3. You're right, especially with geeks
4. Damn, you cant moderate in something you replied to

But, I'm a good old expansionist xenophobic American, so [again, sarcasm] I DON'T CARE! [/sarcasm]
It's not too often that a British person actually explains the meanings of some of their more... choice words. Thanks
Well, Russia and the US aren't the most, uh, trustworthy pair. But why would Canada and the European Union not trust our system?
Yes, but copying intellectual property IS theft, as far as most courts are concerned.
[sarcasm]Just what we need!

Seriously, whats wrong with the existing GPS system?
