Wow. I decided to fool around, typed gopher://gopher.ptloma.edu/ into Internet Explorer 5.5. It works, no glitches. Just says something about NS, doesn't it? (AFAIK, gopher is dead in Netscape.)
Today, Linus' big behind-the-scenes work on a total rewite of the Linux kernel, dubbed Linux3, was accidentally deleted and his only backup was destroyed by human saliva, tattered with human bite marks. "Damn kid," was all Linus had to say on the matter.
With NH2H, I can't visit any website that has games. Or, deals with chat. Hell, I can't visit http://www.mirc.co.uk because of it. Anyone know of any anonyomiser software that could be run on my home webserver (Apache, PHP) to avoid that mess?
I really hate to see 3Dfx dying.
Man, 2 years ago I about shat my pants from watching Quake 2 run at 60FPS at 1024x768 no problem on a VooDoo2 SLI setup. All 3Dfx needs is a good chipset (V5 is a waste) to bring them back from the dead. If they don't, R.I.P., 3Dfx.
These kind of "Well, Mr. Cable is a monopoly!" things PISS ME OFF! Why do you want ISP's to be open, but allow the damned company to be monopolistic? I mean, c'mon people. Leave them BOTH closed or open BOTH. I frankly, like SusCom, and their service is A+. If another company came in, I'd certianly stay with SusCom. I'm not sure about ATT tho.
Think about it. I go to CNN.com and see "Video Coverage!". I click on it in an i-Opener or any netpliance. I get a cryptic error message like "Unknown file type:.rm", and I don't know what it means! It's not working. Let's take it back, it doesn't do what I told it to. They don't work as good as PCs. They don't do what they should be able to.
Inform them that it is a cellular line, and ask for the operator's name. If he refuses to give it, thats an automatic fine. Then, ask for the company's name, address, and telephone number. If they dont give it up, just ask for a log from your cellular operator. Send the FCC a letter, telling them you would like compensation for the abuse, and if the company refuses to give it, they get a big fat $50k fine in the mail.
To tell you the truth, they CANNOT. If a tele-fucker calls you up on a cellular line, YOU CAN SUE THEM. If they refuse to pay up, the FCC can fine them, something along the lines of $50k. It's no joke. If a telemarketer calls you up on a land line and refuses to identify themselves and give their number, you can easdily get $500 out of them.
I bet the recordables will be like CD-Rs. The whole disk will be flouresced, and the laser will simply burn the floursecense away to record a binary 0.
The FMD stuff has been around for a while.
It's been listed on/. before, too. Basically, its a clear CD where the pits flouresce when the laser hits them. I can't remember, but their webpage I think said 30 layers.
100Tera..BYTES?!
Seriously people. This is OVERKILL. With the digital theatres only having about 3000x2000 (thereabouts) resolution, 100TB of digital video is way overkill. Even in film-based cinematography, that would be overkill. 24 frames a second, 35mm of film per frame isn't that much. Not 100TB worth anyway.
The rationale for this is that these sites were not registered in good faith.
This is definatley true. Look at what PayPaI did (http://www.paypaI.com/ in some fonts looks exactly like http://www.paypal.com/). If they hadn't been caught, a lot of people could of lost alot of money. I also didn't like the mighty surprise I got in school when I tried to visit NASA at http://www.nasa.com/. Anyone remember that? The rules on "typosquatting" should be stronger than those on plain-old cybersquatting;-)
That way, they're off Panasonic's backs. Macrovision is an old, easily reverse-engineered standard, but it makes the Motion Picture Association of America happy. But then again, Thoman Jefferson said (this is recalled from memory)
Anyone who would give up a little freedom for a little bit of order, deserves neither and will loose both.
MPAA, would that apply here? Chances are, that if Panasonic says "Hey, MPAA? Is this more reasonable for your facist regime?", they will respond with creating laws to make any PVR like TiVo or ReplayTV have Macromedia or some form of "protection" thereof.
While we still may be several years away from photographic quality in 3D accelerators, it is important to keep the speed up there.
Looks like 3dfx isn't so full of it.
I actually plan to do that, but licensed. Shouldn't be to awfully hard. alt.radio.pirate isnt just pirate radio. It's a real good newsgroup for help with any type of radio questions.
As a close follower of the emulation scene at the time, Bleem! PC did NOT deliver. It cost $10 when it came out, and when you got your CD, you didn't even have the program! You had to go to Bleem! to download it. First, Randy's anti-piracy method would NOT work on all CD-ROM readers. So, there came a flurry of revisions to get it to work. Then, another flurry of revisions to get Direct3D working. There has not been an update since at least the middle of March 2000. [sarcasm] Keep up the good work, Randy! [/sarcasm]
You hit the nail right on the head!
The school district that I used to go to had by far the best high school in at least a 50 mile radius. Built in 1970, with a fully new technology wing and every classroom with at least one computer and net access. 4 computer labs filled with Apple G4s. Not to mention, one of the best bands in at least the state of Pennsylvania. However, I moved from my dads to my moms, and my mom lives in a different school district. My mom had no problem with driving me to school every day, but the school did. I am now forced to go to by far the worst school I've ever seen. I was in a Sr. High School at Williamsport, and am now back to the force-fed classes of Jr High.
I know those websites say it cant be vulgar, but fun with a remote from a TV would cause it to be a drunk - *BURP* Fuck you!, then go into a singing fit.

Yeah. The 4th dimension is TIME.
Go down guns a blazin'... Into my 7 foot cband dish that looked like a Russian radio dish. i can see it on 60 Minutes...
Ya know what this means? ;-)
"Desktop Replacement" laptops just became a lot nicer looking.

Alienware is also the most expensive computer company out there.
Thanks, I stand corrected. -Rob

The article doesn't debunk it. It supports it.
