    Guys,
You didnt pay for the hardware. To most consumers they see it as, "Hey, I can just scan this Pepsi bottle and end up on their website. Cool.". Then there are also the CueCat "Cues". DigitalConvergence probably sells those, so they make money. A barcode scanner doesnt just appear for free. It costs them money. You see all sorts of businesses going under because they ran out of money. It is because of people like you that advertisers dont buy adspace from a company WITH A GREAT IDEA and they go under. If DigitalConvergence were to go under, I would blame it solely on the people reverse engineering it. Just because you run Linux doesnt mean your entitled to everything. They chose not to make Linux software because they didnt find it valuable.
    This is NOT a flame.

It's the damned lock company's fault for making the duped keys (DVD-CCA), so making a fantastic tool for breaking in your own house that you werent given a key to the house you own (using CSS-Auth). I agree with you wholeheartedly. Sega worked their asses off trying to get their company back on its feet. It did, with a GREAT turnaround. They tried to protect piracy with proprietary information. A DreamCast disc is software written for a DreamCast. It is (and I hate saying this) copyrighted intellectual property. DCisos.com had no right or reason to want to access the data on those discs, as the DreamCast does this in the fashion they were meant to be. People like this caused the DCMA. DreamCast has not been emulated yet, won't be for a while because AFAIK the chipset/CPU is proprietary, and still then you could BUY the game and BUY a GD-ROM drive. They DO exist. Kalisto had no business copying games. They were not for backup purposes. I frankly think SEGA should win this battle. I do not like the DCMA, but there IS reason for it. -Rob
