..was on an NEC Versa M/100 laptop. I was going to leave for vacation before the auction was to end. I really wanted that laptop so I emailed the seller and asked if we could resolve the auction privately. She dropped the auction and I ended up sending her a money order and getting the laptop before I left:-)
... but its problem lies in its stability. AthenaOS used to have it's own domain and it used to run a webserver on AthenaOS... there was something on/. awhile back about Athena's lack of stability. Maybe rocklyte.com is running Athena? I'd check now but netcraft is down (and I'm on my windows machine).
There wasn't a link to his site you fscking moron... it's in his profile. Damn, why don't you actually look at the site before you post anything else that further highlights your stupidity. If you've read his site, and his comment about being "slashdotted", he basically refers to an article posting as a "slashdotting". Just when I thought I've seen all the idiots, another one comes along;-/
it does nothing about aging. I don't know about the rest of the world, but I personally would rather die after 90 years than live to be 180 and look like a bag of sun-dried fruit.
Why in the hell do these 31337 h4x0rz always try to blackmail the firms they crack? I mean, they almost always end up being caught during this process.. why not sell the credit card numbers and/or use some of them? Is this just stupidity on their part or am I missing something?
I just want to clear something up. Does plex86 run windows95 AND 98? The/. summary says, "...Open Source X86 virtualization software which runs under Linux and now boots several operating systems, including QNX and Windows 98."
I can't find a link on the site listing what OS's plex86 runs... anyone know it?
Check this story out...
For those too lazy to read it, it basically says that the P4 will only run Redhat and TurboLinux. Kinda odd how the most commercialized distros work w/ the P4:-/
Now I realize that this is a complete keyboard, but surely the FBI can reproduce the same type of hardware-based logging mechanism that this thing uses.
Where in the hell is Maniac Mansion for the NES? That was probably the 1st decent role-playing game ever. I still play it during the summers..
Anyways, 15000$ sounds a little steep, especially when you consider that the reserve hasn't even been met yet:-/
Now all we have to worry about is lame script-kiddies flying missles at the pentagon and NASA(rather than running the latest 31337 exploit). Seriously though, this is a little scary.
"If elected president I pledge a renewed commitment to fight the war on drugs. I have a plan that includes $2.767 billion in new initiatives to help parents, teachers, and faith-based leaders influence children to steer clear of the evils of the drug culture."
I can just see the anti-drug commercials now.. "Cocaine is bad, mmmkay." -George W. Bush
I never really understood the concept of solar sails. Someone out there clear something up for me... if you have a huge sail propelling you through space, what's to happen when a piece of space debris flying thousands of miles an hour tears a hole through it?
Whoever mod'ed me down for my comment must be a complete idiot. I was the 1st person to post this "redundant" comment. Am I supposed to control what everyone else posts after I do? I mean, sure, it may not be a funny joke to you, but obviously since it's "redundant" others must find the idea amusing. Goddamn.. what's the world coming to?
I always wondered if it would be possible to create some sort of mini-VLA with a bunch of Primestar dishes. I know this wouldn't be the easiest of tasks, but harder stuff has been done right? I mean, according to THIS article there were 2.3 million Primestar subscribers when DirecTV decided to buy them out. That means that there are about 2.3 million Primestar satellite dishes sitting around being useless.. there's gotta be something cool to use them for. Spiffy new high-speed file-sharing network? A VLA rival (I don't actually know if this would be possible because I'm not an astronomer)? Bah, the possibilities are endless.
My old laptop (NEC Versa M/100) runs so hot that it melted the rubber stoppers off of the bottom. When I'm compiling a kernel or something I have to keep a house-fan blowing air on it:-/
This would actually not be good. If your body were able to internally produce and use up caffeine, you could eventually die. Everyone knows that caffeine starts to have a smaller effect on a person after they drink a ton of it. I'm just wondering how fast a persons body would produce and use it up? I mean, after 250 mg's of caffeine you get caffeinism, and start to feel sick. After 4500 mg's of caffeine, you could die ( http://slashdot.org/articles/00/07/21/1818236.shtml )
This has probably been brought up earlier, but I don't have time to sift through 400 comments (yeah, I'm just lazy). So is it illegal to provide a URL to things such as DeCSS as just text? I mean, even my grandma would have enough sense to copy a URL from a webpage and paste it into a location bar, and then hit enter. If this is considered illegal, then that would certainly be the biggest attack on free speech that I've seen to date. Just my 2 cents...
(southpark fans please dont flame me) don't get me wrong, i thought the southpark movie was alright. i just didnt like the stupid musicals that were in it. also, southpark has lost some viewers since the movie came out (around here at least. im seeing less and less of those cheesy southpark shirts). basically what im trying to get at is that i hope the simpsons DONT sell-out like southpark did. just my 2 cents..
I realize that this allows for more people to use alternative OS's, but it also has its downsides. Just imagine thousands of new linux/AOL users being pissed off because they can't find an easy-to-use version of back orifice or netbus... instead they discover new tools like sscan and nmap. This, coupled with AOL's 800% increase in search warrants, will make for some interesting news in the future. Just my 2 cents..
Guess I can rm all of those ugly text-based versions of messenger now. Anyone know if this linux version support custom away messages? I know this was one of my biggest complaints with programs like everybuddy.

It makes sense for the pentagon to want this 279$ mouse. It'll go great along w/ the 1000$ toilet seats and 300$ ink pens ;-)

Could it possibly be something like this?

I found a walk-through somewhere on the net a few years ago..

I was always wondering why slashdot never mirrored DeCSS. Afraid of a lawsuit or what? Anyways, I think I like the sound of endangered.slashdot.org

Uhmmm... it's Troy McClure, not Ted McClure. I'll drag my pathetic-ass back to the TV now ;-)

wonder how long it will be until someone tries to turn one of those into a webserver?
