"You can kill me, but two more will take my place."
Seriously, if they released the code to something like Kazaa people could just modify that code a bit, close it up, and overrun the RIAA with court cases.
...but not really, since 95% of the people who read this thought CS == Counter Strike.
The first time I noticed the "Counterstrike for Dummies" cheat (OGChook something) was when a guy came onto the server I was on and went 12-0 within the first round. His alias was mpcheats.com... so I visited that site. It had the CS cheat that everyone is now using (and it boasted that the author was always a step-ahead of valve/punkbuster/paladin/etc). Now the site seems to be down, but here's the google cache of it:
Google cache of MPCHEATS.COM I find it amazing that sites such as zeroping.com actually link to this cheat. It doesn't really help the anti-cheat solution much:-/
if they actually tried to set up a minature colony of these organisms on Mars, and then a recover it a few years later. Too bad NASA would never receive funding for anything like that.
This would be alright for sex-offenders or other similar criminals, but not for the everyday citizen. It'd be impossible to tag every-single person in the US. What about the homeless lurking in the N.Y.C. subway tunnels?
I imagine the outcome of something like this would be similar to THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU (sp?) where the beasts rip their chips out
Since it's obvious that this device can trigger false alarms, why not regulate it's use in some way? Instead of having this in every vehicle, why not use it as a penalty for individuals caught driving drunk? I realize this is still flawed (they could just roll down their windows), but it's an idea.
I signed up for their free trial awhile back. Then I just busted out some offline browsing software that would follow however many links you wanted it to. Yeah, it did download a ton of useless crap (I was on a T1 so it was speedy), but I still payed 0$ for tech books that I otherwise would've payed hundreds for at the local store.
Actually, "w00t" is derived from the word "root", which goes along w/ the whole computer thing. "Root" == the most power on most systems. "w00t" is just a lame version of "root".
Why does everyone automatically point to Gnutella as a replacement for Napster? There are so many better file-sharing programs out there right now (for Windows at least, but I'm sure someone would love to port them;-)
For instance, I stopped using Napster when they released Beta 8. Beta 8 is supposed to be an improvement, but Beta 8 crashed 10 times more often than my previous version. Instead I now use
WinMX
With WinMX you can share anything at all.. no restrictions. Also, it runs off of all of the rogue servers out there now (the Napster ones too) so it's not like you're missing anything from not using Napster. Check it out at WinMX.com
Although this is probably the best way to go, it's going to be quite costly and time consuming. What's the price to take the RHCE courses and tests now? Multiply that by 16,000 and we're talking big bucks. Then again, if the company is buying that much equipment than they can obviously afford it (whether they will want to or not is another story).
...I think it'd be wise to keep paper records as well. What if your entire network comes to a halt? You wouldn't want all of your patients to have to wait for care while some poor sys admin to fix the damn thing. Also, what about those less fortunate individuals who cannot afford to own a computer and have Internet access (granted, you can find net access for free in some places but people not in touch with the Internet won't know that).
I can't remember where I found out about this program, but you can grab it here. From WinMX.com...

Jello Biafra was the lead singer of the Dead Kennedy's. Jello is also a political activist and was an keynote H2K speaker. Now I have a question for you... Ayn Rand (the name rings a bell...)
Do a search for "ebook" +physics or something on kaaza. I've found a ton of ebooks on the gnutella network.

I was under the impression that Charophytes gave rise to modern day vascular and nonvascular plants...

they'll probably start calling it "software" now :-/
I'd love to see them turn a movie like Goodfellas or Hellraiser (both R-rated movies) get turned into a PG :-/
I sneeze without covering my mouth. Suddenly lights and sirens go off and the CDC quickly rushes in wearing biohazard suits.
Haha, yeah, I know. It was the computer I first started on...
Will it run on my LCII? That's an old machine... :-)
I bet PETA just loves this :-)

lol, man.. your posts are hillarious yo. peace..
..as to why they're taking a risk and hurling it down to Earth. Wouldn't it just be a hell of alot safer to send it off into space somewhere?
