Yes, just like what happened to Doom 3. And Quake 3. And Unreal. And all the other games that were released with high system requirements for their time.
Hell, if people really were as cheap as you seem to think, we'd still be playing Pong.
Hang on, I'm confused. Where did you buy Half-Life 2 from that didn't CLEARLY STATE it would only be playable on the official release date? I bought it from Steam as soon as it was available (well, a day after I guess), and it was abundantly obvious that I'd have to wait until it was available in retail stores to play it.
Don't you have better stuff to whine about? What exactly do you think is so bad about Valve and Steam that makes them deserving of a boycott?
Had you RTFA, you would know that Gabe Newell has admitted that the game was just plain unfinished a year ago. The smokescreen they set up, saying parts of it had to be rewritten and so forth because of the theft, was just BS to make up for the fact that they screwed up in estimating how much time it would take to complete.
But the game is finally done, once and for all, and judging by how freaking amazing the reviews have been, all will be forgiven and it will become a wild success. I hope the guys at Valve take it easy with their new Ferraris!
No, not really. The article does not say that Windows shipped with a pirated copy of SoundForge or uses pirated SoundForge libraries to play.wav's, just that some Microsoft developer once used a pirated copy of SoundForge to edit some.wav's that are shipped with Windows Media Player.
"Xbox Next PC is, according to the presentation, an entry-level PC that runs Windows and all standard PC software. It also includes CD Burner, Wireless keyboard, mouse and controller"
The article doesn't say anything about a G5, but assuming that they'll be using that as the CPU I guess it means XP or Longhorn will have support for it.
Can someone explain what is so great about this game, or for that matter, Halo 1? I played it on the PC and it struck me as just a repetitive, bland, run-and-gun shooter with better-than-average graphics, a dull plot, and mediocre AI.
Is the state of console games really so bad that this one, as moderately entertaining instead of godawful, is the best currently available?
No, they tricked you on that too. The included cartridges in most printers are only half-full.
So, unless the printers cost half as much as a new cartridge, you're still wasting money because you're buying printers twice as often as you would cartridges.
This amazingly off-topic, but I feel like asking - what the hell do you do all day? It seems like every time I read the comments for a story, I see your name somewhere in the first five responses.
Please. I'd hardly call those "ventures", more like experiments that they make available for the public to play with.
Those things cost them so little to develop, a single one of them taking off would generate enough revenue to pay for their entire experimentation program.
It might not make you switch, but it will make Joe Blow switch.
Most people haven't heard of Mozilla (insert rant about screwy open-source project names here), but they sure as hell have heard of (and trust) Google.

"Then again, who would have believed the BMW would build a car's electronics around Windows CE?"
Okay, enough with this bit of misinformation.
BMW built an replacement for a car's dashboard controls using Windows CE. Windows CE has absolutely nothing to do with BMW's engine management, safety, traction control, etc. systems. All their iDrive system does is replace the countless knobs, buttons, and gizmos that used to festoon BMW dashboards. If the system fails/crashes/whatever, it does not affect the driveability of the car at all.
People are discovering that when you buy any product that is subject to "activation", you haven't really bought anything.
Except...these people didn't actually buy the product, did they? No, they stole it. I don't see what the problem is.
TC, or one of the US's squillion confusing ones nobody ever remembers the name of?
By "squillion", you mean four, correct? Named Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific? My god, so complicated and hard to remember!
d their crappy custom client won't let me download to anywhere but C:, when all my free space is on D: and E:
Your games will be downloaded to wherever you install Steam. If you put Steam on C:, they'll download there. If you put it on D:, they'll go there.

Dear god, talk about a case of RTFA.

Yeah, none of the messages I've sent to daddypants have ever been answered.
Dead links, articles with no links to the stories, dupes, articles with blatant typos (like Christopher Reeves), and so forth.
Oh well.

Why make it 3D? It would be much more readable if they just adjusted the shade of blue/red according to how much of the vote Kerry/Bush got.

Yes, and the rat you find living inside the case can become a new family pet!

Your comment might be correct, if not for the fact that very few (if any) of Google's ventures have been money-losing.
It might not make you switch, but it will make Joe Blow switch.

"Q. What's the latest status on Team Fortress 2?
Doug Lombardi: After we announced TF2 on the HL1 tech, we made the decision to move it to the Source engine. It is still in development and we will be announcing more on that title soon."
Don't bother, no one cares any more. You blew it.
So, this would be perfect for those moments when you're on a Mac and need access to a Unix system for some reason.
Oh, wait...
It's a standard CRT that just has a "flat screen", not an LCD, Plasma screen, or whatever the display tech of the day is.
They told you this on their website, before you bought the game. It's not Valve's fault that you were too lazy to read it.
Sirius and XM Radio are not the same company. They're competitors.
Sirius is the one that Stern will be on, which I presume is quite a victory for them.

That is all.
Under threat of physical violence, most security systems that involve humans tend to break down.
I'd give up my PGP private key to someone who put a gun to my head - that doesn't mean that PGP itself is insecure.
The difference though, is that you can't lift a fingerprint from a swipe scanner, like you can with an ordinary flat one.
