Why throw it away? Can't it be diluted down to reactor fuel grade material? I thought a significant amount of our current supply came from retired weapons. Maybe that only applies to plutonium.
Right, because bicycles do so much damage to the roads and put so much pollution into the air. Instead most city roads where I live are barely passable to cars much less bicycles due to potholes.
Wait, how does a cab charge someone that they did not give a ride to? Are there services where you can pre-pay for a cab ride? Who would be stupid enough to do this? In the US, at least, cab services are so unreliable. I had a scheduled pick up show up 30 mins late, even with me on the phone guiding him to my house the entire time. "Wow I have never been to this neighborhood before." "Wtf, is this your first time in this city as a cab driver?" "No, I have lived here all my life." "wtf wtf wtf".
Sounds more like you can't separate the human consciousness from the memories. I thought we already knew that. Perhaps there was a theory why until now.
Cast iron pans have their purpose. I use mine for steaks and on campfires, and occasionally on the grill for things I am worried would fall through. Stainless and annodized aluminum are better for almost everything. (many will argue that the stainless is better for steaks too) But at least the cast iron is dirt cheap.
A $150 dollar knife is a waste of about $100 dollars. You can always get a knife for $50 bucks and performs just as well, it just wont look as pretty.
I bet he has those magnetic knife holder things so he can show off his expensive knives to everyone.
That is true, but you can generally tell by looking at someone's home if they are clean or not.
If that was true we would not need health inspectors for restaurants. it is pretty easy to just quickly clean up the publicly accessible areas and cover up potential health disasters that an inspection would uncover, especially in a private home. (not that I have experience with such coverups...)
Nasa and contractors desperately need the SLS to be their next generation launch platform. Making sure access to orbit is horrifyingly expensive when you have to throw away the entire rocket is in their best interest for gaining the most tax dollars for the contractors.
There is a reason people call it the Senate Launch System, it is all about directing money to as many congressional districts as possible. Put the kind of money they are sinking into this thing into SpaceX and Orbital's hands and who knows where we could be in a decade. I don't think there are even plans for SLS to put a person in orbit by then.
you're kidding right? RTFA and you'll see that it's about the size of the average weekend hobbyist's RC airplane.
I need to get into the drone business because the profit margins appear to be staggering.
You need to get into the "selling things to the government on a no bid contract buisness". The profit margins are staggering once you have greased the right palms.
I am not saying this thing is luddism. I was mostly just commenting on the reactionaries that show up on a lot of articles.
I don't see what the big deal is about all of the "wireless key" stuff is. If the major failure is that people with heavy key rings are breaking the sockets, then just dont put as much crap on your keys, or mandate putting the key socket on the console instead of the column. Problem fixed, no need for expensive electronic solutions.
I have a fairly modern sports car with all manual dash controls and keys. 9 years old and everything works as well as day one save for a couple of lightbulbs in the dash that burnt out (plan on replacing those with leds). I wouldn't have it any other way, and I am concerned when it comes time to replace it on another nice car I can get without all the crazy electronics stuff.
That only means that six people can go at a time. It's $250,000 PER PERSON. Hell, it's the second line on the booking page.
"All seats to fly to space are US$250,000"
So its US$250,000 for all of the seats. Great, what a bargain!
And you can counter with... "It's called mescaline, it's the only way to fly."

Blinking red lights are stop signs not yield signs. You are not allowed ignore them.
The cab had a pro GPS unit, but he still got lost. I don't think he knew how to use it anyhow.
What he means is, you did not prepay for a taxi ride, you prepaid for the voucher.
If the driver never shows up, you keep the voucher. You can thus give it to another driver that does show up.

The only way I would be able to do that is if I was the church of Scientology.
I don't want to know how those notes got sticky.
She is a big fan of McGuyver.
Sorry, we have not filled them up yet.
America is out of food days, now there are duplicates.

Ok, then I take exception to the "might" part of your statement. :)
How do I delete my account?
You could edit all your posts and write "copyright 2014" then issue Slashdot a DMCA notice. But that might not work.
You could edit all your posts....
Crimea=Florida
But who's counting..
Russia can have Florida.
Posting something odd on reddit is "whoring for 15 minutes of fame" now? What's posting on slashdot then?
Karma Whoring
Now if it was sent via USPS, then you could conceivably say "the feds", though it would be willfully obtuse to do so.

Ahh, you figured it out, the multiple A4s were referencing different things.
So pick two of those.
Can't the steering lockout simply be electronic? Then they can put the key interface wherever they like.

You'd be surprised. It seems every time there is change in the tech sphere, Slashdot is the first to voice skepticism and discomfort.
If not outright luddism...
