    For the rest of the experience, I can get by without an employee. I can't do online pickup, without an employee around.

    So far my spouses and mine experience with the online pickup section of their stores is that at night the Walmart employees really hope that no one will show up and just abandon that little room of the store. The first thing that needs to happen is to have fast service at the online pickup room %100 of the time.

    This reminds me of when I explain to people my idea around how to change the system to have voters vote on issues instead of individuals for deciding who our politicians should be, and I have plenty of people say "But I don't care about the issues". It's heartbreaking.

    Safety features tend to propagate. Plus, if you're someone who generally is driving only one car, you're probably not going to randomly be driving another.

    In particular rural mountain areas with a foot of snow on the road.

    They'll probably just start by not going to those areas. Then slowly the cars will learn over time as data is gathered.

    The notion that humans will actually react better than an automated system in an emergency seems backwards to me.

    I was thinking that cars might struggle at first with strange scenarios, not ones where it needs to react swiftly. Something like if a police officer is directing your vehicle around an accident at a five way intersection, in a construction zone during a rainstorm at dawn, or some such thing.

    I can say without a doubt for me it surely hasn't made me a better driver.

    The point of the features isn't to make you a better driver, they're to decrease the chances of you becoming a corpse.

    And I'm sure they can find time to squeeze that in without disrupting the other subjects.

    Why not disrupt some subjects? I mean, I loved Geography, and did really well in that class, but honestly, it felt like it was there to fill in a slot of time because the school didn't have anything else to teach.

    There's nothing wrong with basic exposure to computer science. But it should not come at the expense of fundamental skills such as reading, writing and mathematics

    But so many people struggle to see what the point is of the math they learn beyond arithmetic. But if they had a semester/year of programming before taking algebra, many of the struggles that they have with math between arithmetic and calculus will be gone. Teachers won't need to think of story problems to try and help students realize that math is used. The students will already know how to apply many mathematical principles because they've used them, or see how they can be used, in their programs.

    What's wrong with voting for a self-confessed ex-drunk? I don't see it being bad at all for a imperfect person running for office to say "I used to have a problem, but I no longer have the problem, or am at least managing the problem". I can see a problem with an alcoholic who lies to himself and doesn't believe he's an alcoholic; I can see a problem with an alcoholic who hides it from the public and lies about it when confronted. But someone who's reformed? I don't see the problem.

    The Right To Be Forgotten is one of those things that just can't be enforced well, which also runs counter to most other countries' ideas about fundamental rights.

    I think it only runs counter to America's ideas about fundamental rights. Every other country seems to be fine about letting the government control what people can and can't see.

    Going the White House would be cool and all, but what would really help the situation is if the President could force the police and administrators to publicly and in person apologize to the boy. That would hopefully reduce over reactions in the future.

    I can't see how this would be anything but a distraction and counter-productive.

    Because sometimes humans need distractions during the routine of the day to be more productive.

    There are plenty of articles out there talking about how many Chinese, having grown up with no siblings or cousins, and two parents who only care about their schooling, have never really developed soft social skills, or did much out of school. So once they're out of school and are now working, struggle with doing activities outside of work. So distractions during the day, for someone who's only going to be thinking about work, should they actually go home, probably creates a similar balance in that someone, that you get from going home at the end of the day.

    Perhaps because those people aren't qualified for a desk job using their minds? Not all people are cut out for that kind of work.

    If an employer hires somebody and discovers that they'll contribute more to the company by transitioning to a desk, the employer will make the transfer.
