That's not a USB issue, that's an OS write caching issue. It's higher up the chain of command.

It was my understanding that it was both an OS caching issue, and a power issue. If the device that's plugged in through USB was self powered, it wouldn't be a problem. But if the device was powered from the port (say like a USB stick) than there's a slight chance that pulling it out during a certain change in the power draw, might result in some of the memory on the stick getting messed up.

I hope they can avoid that issue with the new design.

Why can't my home computer manage passwords. Seems like it's smart enough to generate a password, pass it to the secure site, then at log off generate another password pass it to the site and then log off. Let the computers handle the task. Then have one master password or some other technique to log onto the computer that can only be used from the keyboard.

Because home computers get hosed. Plus many people use many different devices to connect to the internet. I might regularly check a website from home, but occasionally I might do it from my work computer. And then once in a while, maybe I feel like doing it from my Nook tablet because that's what's in my hands at that moment. I also might want to do it from my phone, or periodically my in-laws computer when I'm trying to show them something.

What we really need is to bring back serious inheritance taxes, even if some people want to call them "death taxes". In the long run, huge wealth is not a societal problem so long as it doesn't become dynastic.

It's my understanding that inherited money rarely lasts for more then two generations in the US. I've heard multiple reports about companies that sell services to rich families about teaching each family member what to do with money because it's very common for wealth to never make it to the great-grandkids of the wealth creator. The kids will get the wealth, and they may or may not blow it. But if some money makes it to the grand kids they are for sure going to blow it. Fools and their money are easily parted and the US has a very healthy marketplace of letting people spend all of their money away.

  16. Re:Where was this caution with Wii U? on Xbox One Released · · Score: 1

Excuse me while I go play "Super Mario 3D World" on my console that actually has games.

    You're excused.

The reason why many have declared the Wii U dead, but are giving the other two systems a chance is that the Wii U didn't improve upon what the Wii did well (Wii U's motion control is not better than Wii's). Plus we know that Nintendo is going to try it's best to justify the heavy, expensive Game Pad by making games make use it, and thus far most games aren't better for it. So we're not too excited about a future with the Wii U and constantly bending our necks down from our big screens to look at the small screen in our hands.

I felt the same way about the Wii U. I loved the Wii (still do), went to some Wii U pre-launch events, got all excited, but then when launch came and I looked at my budget to justify the purchase I just couldn't do it. Rayman Legends looked fun, but that was on other platforms, and it certainly didn't justify purchasing the system. Here I wait, waiting for a game to come out (or at least enough games) to see which next gen console I'll buy.
