If you're talking about phones made by a US company, Motorola T720i is probably the first one to come out. Eweek says that it's an 1xRTT Java phone that has an optional camera attachment. If's seems to be available for sale at Verizon's website, however no mention of the camera attachments there. Maybe Eweek confused T720 with A820... Anyway, the relevant links are below.
200 Gb hd, that's a little over 2.5 hours of uncompressed NTSC video. You can probably edit a short movie on one of these drives. Still, I'd like to have a 600 Gb drive to edit a 1.5 movie comfortably (3 times the space of a single one).

RMI over SSL?

Does the author discuss RMI security and RMI over SSL? If he does, it would be a welcome advantage to the book that probably should've been mentioned in the review. RMI over SSL (via JSSE, for example) is one of the new features that Sun offers, for which only very shallow documentation is available.

The reason is that unfortunately, the 1500/384 package is now only available directly from Covad. Speakeasy stopped offering it and now their maximum ADSL upload speed is only 128.
Van Dyke Secure CRT is a really good GUI that support SSH2 with the most advanced encryption and authentication schemes (AES).
My favourite features are:
Configurable defeat of idle disconnect
Configurable word delimiter for cut and paste
Use Alt as Meta key for emacs.
Can disable scroll-to-bottom on output.
Supports OpenSSH private key format (allegedly in new versions, haven't checked)
Login scripting
You can probably implement all those features when you use OpenSSH via an Xterm, but it would take you days to research Xwindow configuration and expect scripting language.
The only feature that command line SSH (OpenSSH and the commercial ssh.fi ssh) has is the ability to forward authentication using ssh-agent.
DSL companies got hammered on Wall Street. So, for them, it's either raise prices or go out of business. Which one would _you_ prefer?
Believe me, many people would prefer to pay extra but keep the service. The other choice for them would be to go through a painful process of switching to a different provider and paying more anyway.

Get an easily configurable DNS service as in register.com or easydns.com. This way you can easily flip your domain name to a different ip address. If you register your domain at register.com or easydns.com, they will resolve your name to your IP address for free. Network Solutions will force you to use your DSL ISP for DNS. It could be hard to convince your ISP to resolve your DNS name if you're on a cheap service plan.
Also, easydns provides a backup MX, and they will even store your mail for something like 5 days if your primary MX is down. It's a very good idea if you're your own MX and your DSL connection tends to go down once in a while. Easydns also provides dynamic dns services, but I don't know if it works well if you're your own MX.
Concentric web hosting cnchost.com and others usually provide good uptime and a few or unlimited number of POP boxes and even shell access. However, they rarely provide IMAP or SSH.

Here's an interesting article Why is KDE on Mandrake faster than on Gentoo?
Speaking of Helicopters and Porsches, you can get a decent 2 seater helicopter for less money than a decent Porsche.
Compare for yourself, $165 grand for a Robinson R22 Beta II helicopter versus $180 grand for a 2002 Porsche 911 GT2.
In terms of fun per dollar, a helicopter beats a Porsche any day!
Could it be that Simonyi left because in .NET Microsoft deprecated Hungarian notation? Maybe he was too attached to
all 138 different prefixes.
The new .NET naming standard is the Camel notation. It's the same
naming/casing standard that
is used in Java.
And if you're talking about HDTV quality, which is about 5 Gb per minute, then you're looking at some puny 40 minutes... ;)

You're lucky, unless you have to move soon.

1500/384 from Covad is PPPoE based.
Both bin Laden and Stallman operate under "end justifies the means" principle. I think Richard's harm may be underestimated.
Let me just give a couple of analogies.
Richard joining assorted software projects for the sole purpose of promoting free software reminds me of a man strapping explosives on his body.
Free Software Foundation is Software Liberation Organization.
Of course Richard's actions didn't injure anyone, but his quest to disentangle free and non-free software is in my opinion harmful to the free.
LDAP-abook has been my favorite. It's a bit crude, but it does provide Web read/write interface and allows LDAP queries.

Just a little correction: Alpha probably runs under Digital Unix, not DGUX. DGUX is a Unix flavor by Data General.
