Right, because the ONLY difference is the Apple logo. There's not, like, well-designed software that you get in the box with it. Nor well-designed hardware. Just the logo. Right.

I was right the first time. You are a crazy person.

I decline to be held responsible for the actions of genocidal maniacs. Sorry...you're arguing with the wrong person.

"Absolutely. But you did post it to Slashdot."

Of course I did, because somebody who reasons like you do was painting people of faith with an awfully broad brush, and I took exception.

My faith is just that: An article of faith. I choose to be spiritual because it makes me feel good. My faith causes zero bad things to happen to anybody.

Therefore, it's my business, isn't it?

I just don't understand how you could do the sorts of things I can do with iTunes with draggin' around a bunch of directories.

If it works for you, well, OK. But correcting the metadata takes a lazy afternoon, and then it's always going to be correct.

I've got a 60gb collection. My fiancee's is about 200. (Mostly swing tracks...lots and lots of swing tracks). We had to spend some time fixing the metadata, but it's pretty straightforward.

Whatever floats your boat, I suppose. I'd rather beat myself in the head with a stick than do it your way.

Uh huh. Apple has had similar teething problems with a bunch of their products. Again: They work fine out of the box. Are there issues? Of course. Are there a disproportionate number of issues, or as many as I'd guessed there'd be with a brand new processor architecture.

So, whatever. Had I bought a MacBook, these are the sorts of issues I'd anticipate having.

I totally fail to understand the appeal of managing your music that way. iTunes' database completely abstracts me from the location of any given track, and I can get to any given track by searching the metadata, whose cleanup is made pretty straightforward by iTunes.

So, from my perspective, dragging folders around to manage music seems like turning a big crank on your car to start it. Sure, you could do it that way, but WHY?
