1. Bay Networks 350-24T 100MB Managed Layer 2 Network Switch 2. Netgear WGR614 (I think) - using for wireless G only. 3. Sipura box - broadvoice phone access 4. APC Smart 900 UPS w/2 battery modules (3+ hour runtime)
Now, here's the servers:
5. Custom Built AMD K6-2 450 firewall, Fedora Core 4 6. Custom Built AMD Athlon 900, file server Fedora Core 4
And end nodes:
Computer Room: 7. My main gaming rig, XP2800+6600GT+Santa Cruz, 1 19" crt and 1 15" lcd. 8. Wife's rig, XP2100+5700LE+Riviera, 1 19" crt. 9. Side Laptop, Dell, wireless G or wired if at my desk.
Other Rooms:
10. Family Room: AMD Sempron 2600+, running SageTV for DVR duties w/PVR-500. 11. Living Room: AMD Athlon XP2800+ connected to projector, custom screen. 12. Music Room: AMD K6-2 450, used to play music to jam along to (have drums, guitar and bass, and various amps etc) 13. Garage(detached, buried 2 cat5): Intel Pentium 200mmx; when I'm working on the cars, again, like music...
I also have a Thinkpad 390X with shattered PCMCIA slots; has 1 USB 1.1 Port, so I can connect to the network using a USB-ethernet box... although I haven't used it in about a year. Also have a Pentium Pro 200 that used to be a firewall, and an additional K6-2 500 that my parents had (and destroyed)...
All networking lines have been personally run by me, and it shows - I've gotten more and more into network and voice wiring over the years, even making a big bunch of change for my wedding pulling in cable and punching down etc. Of course, the latest runs I've done are all dressed and professional -- go figure....
And I do have a rack, KVM, Extender, etc. All cables terminate on a patch panel, 1' cables to the ethernet switch... I try to keep everything neat.
SMS is an application that "Inventories" end-user PCs. Useful for things such as licensing counts (do you really have a license to run "x" application) to PC asset tracking.
You can also have it inventory file types. What this guy did was inventory audio and video files; then you run a query against the information gathered. And as the grand-parent said, *pow!* instant media library.
Our org uses Altiris. There's a default check box to see how many times someone ran solitaire.exe, for instance.... Fun stuff.
Of course, I just like minimal. I'm sure there are others here who may want a lot of other tools handy on their wrist. For me, I don't even want #'s on the face of my watch..:)
I actually have a spare key, if I really wanted to play on that server. Bought the wife a copy back when she was into the game, but she doesn't play anymore....
I recently got kickbanned from my very first UT2k4 server.
Because of a name.
Changed from my normal name to {rto}Fudge_Pakr. See, I was on the [FDG] server, and their clan seems to revolve around cute uses of the "fudge" clanname.
Someone told me to cut it out - but I didn't think they were talking to me. Wham. Kickbanned.
Worst thing is, is their server is pretty happenin' now... and for UT2k4 being as old as it is, there isn't a whole lot of action anymore.... Ah well.
I would imagine everything is insurable... It just starts to become a question of whether it would be less expensive to buy another set.
Admittedly, in your friend's situation, it'd probably be close to impossible. I'd say buy a few fire safes (or a bunch, depending on how many books that would be) and hope no one steals them...
I think I'm gonna friend you and then buy you a few items.
1. Grounding strap - wrap it around your wrist, and attach to ground. (No, don't just lay it on your shag carpet.) 2. Head-mounted LED flashlight - this way you can mount things with a somewhat properly lit environment.:)
I think your monitor is broken. Save yourself the trouble of trying to "fix" it through color corrections or otherwise and either get it professionally repaired, or buy a new one.
Of course, you could just have a bad cable (thinking along the lines of a broken VGA cable... can wash out colors when you lose 1 of the 3....)
and don't just settle for the first person you have a passing attraction towards.
Of course, that doesn't mean you shouldn't have fun with people you may not see yourself with in 5 years. Have a blast, by all means, but never get hooked.
This is completely asinine. These layoffs are for the short-term to appease Wall Street - in the short term. In the meantime, they're destroying employee moral and hurting their long-term performance. And I bet they have the gall to demand loyalty from their employees.
Geeesh. I understand how you can be upset that layoffs have to happen from time to time, but come on. I've been through 3 layoffs so far, and while your response is the typical knee-jerk response, you're really just being a grouch.
I'm glad you don't work with me.... Having a layoff anywhere near you would bring morale down another 2 steps.
I know Intel is working on HMP (host media processing), which would allow for media bridging and conferencing on a cpu, rather than dedicated hardware....
My current Motorola (v551) doesn't keep the setting. Every time you plug it in - Wham, back to LOUD. I've just gotten used to switching it every time I plug it in.
It does remember to switch back to Vibrate when I unplug it though....

Fun stuff doesn't = arousing in my book, but ok.
Fun stuff in this context meant "I can see why they put that there, but I would hope our management wouldn't use it."
Sorry I didn't spell that out for you the first go-round. HAND.
I'm really trying to wrap my head around that image, but my mind keeps rejecting it....

He meant to type "American Librarian"... :)
I know everyone has their own needs or wants for a watch...

For my tastes, I like Movado. Their styles are usually minimalist; the watch I chose for my wrist is this one: http://www.movado.com/selector/results.cfm?Collec

So are you saying that Mike of Dirty Jobs should be a X-Box Live voice chat moderator for a day???
*Addendum to WARNING:
with a chair.
You got it a little backwards....
1. ???
2. ZZZ
3. !!!
4. $$$
See, you need to have the question (???) before the answer (!!!)...
OK, it's been a long week and my math is a little off.
An early apology to anyone who may be offended.
Two questions:
:)
1. What city/country are you located in?
2. Do you have wireless?
3. Will you be sharing?
I would imagine everything is insurable... It just starts to become a question of whether it would be less expensive to buy another set.

Sounds like either a bad memory module/cell or a bad address line...
:)
Either way, in this day and age, you call the card "screwed" and need a new one.
Oh, for the days you could actually fix something like that.....
Brings new meaning to the word "Vapourware"
What with turbines and all....
oh forget it.

That sounds like some sort of forensic laboratory gone horribly horribly wrong...

Once it's the real thing, you'll know!

Damn kids these days.... Back in my day, they'd stone you if you didn't know how to spell!
