My eyes prefer 720p, and it looks great on my front projection system (Tony Hawk 4, NBA2k3 on xbox look fantastic).

I'm also very impressed with Windows Media 9 and 720p based data. Very nice playback on an XP1700 to my projector! Can't wait to build my own PVR on this technology.

XBOX live from the getgo was understoon as a broadband service only.

You do know that each mech is suited for specific missions and even in unreal championship you use characters suiteable for the situation. Stealing flags, use a lizard or robot. I for one probably won't buy ANY games that aren't live enabled in some form or fashion.

The targeted monthly rate has NOT been decided, and even if it is 5-10.00 a month that is NOT a bad price considering that will be a single rate to play over 55+ online games. You can't do that with any other console.

Broadband is the success of Xboxlive. Microsoft can release content that no 56k modem can download, microsoft can create communities, games and environments richly detailed and only limited ot the imagination. As it stands now only roster updates for the NFL games have been out but both Unreal Championship, Mech Assault and Splinter Cell will have downloadable content, maps, addons and fixes. I stay focused, i do the job and i do what is necessary to understand how things are working, where things are going and what my position in the company is. I understand the projects going on, the requirements demanded and what the future holds. I work with management to resource, manage and provide solutions. People who sat around and expected there job to last are usually the ones who get fired first. People who WORK and STRIVE to understand what is going on.. usually have jobs, have people skills and have other interests that keep them EMPLOYEED.

I for one would go work at mcdonalds if i had to. It is a job. i wouldn't sit on my unemployment checks until the last day, i wouldn't wait around for people to respond to my resumes, i would be out SELLING MYSELF.

I think that is where people messup. Who says you have to stay where you started? I started in tech support for an ISP, moved up through sysadmin at a nationwide ISP, moved on to some consulting jobs/contracts and ended up working for Oracle for a while. I know work at a tech company that is growing and doing well. I know they appreciate me because i know what my position is and i now how to provide what the company wants and needs without people telling me so.

First, when the DVD player breaks it is cheap enough to replace. Second, 10 GB is not enough to really store a CD collection. The music will still have to be stored elsewhere and downloaded to the device. So why not just by a somewhat portable MP3 player which, in a 5gb version, can be had for $200.

Uhm, actually for 199.00 you get a console that plays games, dvd's, rips music (holds 8-10 gigs depending on which disk you have) and works online as well. The xbox is selling very well, but what the hell has this got to do with smartphones?

Microsoft provides very detailed, powerfull and highly documented application and SDK environments. I don't know where you come off saying they don't provide the var support. Microsoft has by far got the worlds largest 3rd party and VAR support of ANY company.

Xbox is doing very well, has the highest "attach" rate and has sold MILLIONS. For a FIRST product and FIRST year it is doing very well.

hell, microsoft will be in the black shortly. Considering a billion went in, thats a FAST ROI!

Now back to smartphones, sure MS can screw up, but everyone though PocketPC is going no where yet they still sell like hotcakes and compete very well against every other palm type device out there.
