There are stories every other day about Chinese and Russian efforts to compromise U.S. military networks, agencies and schools. When was the last time the U.S. declared war over foreign attempts at espionage?
I would be surprised if the CIA was involved with the MEK directly. My guess the U.S. provides intel and support with drones and looks the other way while Israel does the dirty work with Stuxnet/Flame/Assassinations.
Its a really nice surprise to see a competent covert operation against a target that deserves it. I honestly didn't think our government or Israel's had it in them anymore.
The artists were part of the problem in the old system. So long as they are trying to perpetuate the abuses of the current copyright system, they are still a problem. Until the DMCA and CTEA are overturned, we should celebrate the losses of any musicians that rely on these for profit. They are party to the greatest theft from the commons ever. They can work for free until that debt is repaid.
Why waste one of three bombs in the hope that a government that has committed itself to fight to the death will suddenly see reason?
Keep in mind that it wasn't until the U.S. dropped the SECOND bomb that the Japanese surrendered. The first attack didn't even elicit a response. This proves that a demonstration or attack on a non-mainland target would almost certainly have been pointless.
Also, what is so special about an atomic bomb really? Neither Hiroshima nor Nagaski hold the record for civilian casualties in a WWII air raid.
There is zero evidence to back up the claim that this was done for the purposes of testing. There is however overwhelming evidence that this was done for military purposes.
Actually Japan had a standing order to kill all Allied POWs in the event of an invasion of the mainland. About 400,000 people, many of them civilians. The U.S. new about it through the broken Japanese codes. Given this information, the a-bombs made even more sense.
Taken individually these indicators are clearly absurd. However taken as a whole this is a very reasonable list. Its not like the FBI made a flyer saying "Anyone that protects their privacy is a terrorist", and I don't think it is reasonable to interpret this list that way.
If someone is collaborating with others to go un-seen, reading about how to make bombs, obsessing over recent terrorist attacks and studying the blue prints for large public venues over TOR all while paying for everything with CCs in a different name, then yeah they may very well be a terrorist. and probably should get some attention from law enforcement.
The loans were probably not the cause, rather it was probably a combination CDO/CDS and the rating agencies. Without debt securitization the defaults would have had a much much smaller impact on the financial system. Thanks to debt securitization the impact of wide scale defaults rippled throughout the world.
Ultimately this points to the rating agencies doesn't it? It was their ratings that turned pig shit into AAA gold and exposed the whole system to colosal risk. They were either corrupt or colossally stupid.

Sony Compromised, Again
·
· Score: 3, Insightful
This industry is actively trying to undermine democracy, destroy individual property rights and trampel everyday civil liberties.
The people who give money to Sony and other RIAA/MPAA groups are part of the problem. They shouldn't be targeted, but any harms they derive from being customers of Sony are their own damn fault.
Look, if the mafia sets up shop in your neighborhood but you choose to work with them, don't complain if you get hurt when the rest of the community fights back.
Its really easy to have a balanced budget when your state's population is sub 1 million and half of your state is excluded from needing state services because its a national park.
Also it routinely hits -30 in Montana, travelling by road is often out of the question and there is probably only one or two decent restaurants in the whole state.
Ill go further. Its good when average people who are blissfully ignorant get some of the Sony treatment. Maybe now they will understand and stop giving these jerks money.
The ethical thing to do is to boycot them. Rootkits, pulling otheros, suing customers, this stuff won't stop so long as there are sociopaths like yourself giving them money.
Does anyone have a concise list of investors, affiliates and partners? Anyone involved with this guys should have their activities very publicly documented.
Developing in a Windows environments is a miserable pain in the ass. Maintaining a desktop linux environment on a laptop was too much of a time suck the last time I tried. Working in OSX (with VMWare for the rare time I need windows) is just far more pleasurable and much less of a headache then the the other options.
Its not always about the hardware. OSX is worth a lot to me on the desktop.
I don't think negative press means squat. The success of Android means that their best days are ahead of them. As their tools become more pervasive, their knowledge of us all grows. The more google knows, the more ads they sell and the more money they make.
Is Google's presence in your average person's life going to increase or decrease? Thats the direction their profits are going.
With PAX East coming up, it might be a good time for PA to weigh in on Sony's attack on gamers property rights. This was once the sort of stuff they would be all over. Would there be a more powerful statement against Sony then Pax banning any presence of the PS3 or PSP?
Yet PA silently stands by while free speech and property rights are raped by Sony.
What kind of dipshit would consider this terrorism?
Oh, probably the kind that fails to see how espionage can often prevent wars.
Ugh, overrated nonsense.

The assassinations appear to be the Mossad + MEK.

Israel even seems to want credit for Stuxnet:

Religion is just plain evil.
He is clearly an Open Source Specialist, whatever that means.
"which is why server style Javascript has never caught on, "
Come on man, really? Its kind of taking off now.

The gods worshipped in India (and everywhere else) can go fuck themselves.

So I should instead support conservatives that expand governments power to spy and detain citizens and gut the separation of church and state?
I don't see either side as having clean hands when it comes to respecting the constraints imposed on them by the constitution.

Great. Keep giving your money to these assholes.

Sigh. Ill suck it up and use them to screw with Sony, but Paypal is definitely on my list of companies I avoid spending money with.

OMG TERRORISTS!!!!!!
This is Sony. They will screw you. Just avoid them and save yourself the hassle.
