    IBM didn't do all of that R&D to impress Alex Trebec. The plan is for Watson to replace customer service reps.

    Is anybody actually interested in interacting with machines via chatbots?

    Have you ever waited 10 minutes to chat with an uninterested customer service rep who barely spoke your language? Bots would be an improvement.

    The fact that everything is valid when put to a vote is why that stuff can change though, rather than saying "No no no, GOD wants slavery, so you can't just 'vote' it away, that's blasphemy."

    If that was true, we wouldn't need a constitution. The current popularly elected government would be right about everything.

    And in the US, nobody "voted away" slavery. There was a big war about it. It was a whole chapter in your high school social studies textbook.

  12. A huge problem with the Concorde was noise restrictions on sonic booms. It could only really fly from one coastal city to another, namely NY and DC to London and Paris. They tried a subsonic Dallas to DC connecting leg and it failed miserably. The article mentions this in passing, and ignores what a huge deal it is.

    Building a large supersonic airplane has never been the problem. Operating a supersonic airplane profitably in the modern air travel market is the problem, and I don't see any indication that these guys have solved that one.

    It's weird how nobody ever accuses an Anonymous operation of being a false flag while it's in the early boasting phase. Then it's always "Anonymous is going to fuck them up good this time". After that operation turns into a huge failure, then it was clearly a false flag from the beginning.

    I own a Leaf in the desert southwest. Being able to turn on the AC from your phone is fantastic. The difference between getting into an 80 degree car and a 120 degree car is pretty huge.

    That's a very well known issue solved by material selection.

    This is true. But the materials you have to select are crazy expensive, and increased demand will only increase those costs.
