Yeah, and IE6 has the exact same support. PNG, no alpha transparency. The single most-used browser in the world is the only one lacking the most attractive feature of PNG files. Even IE5 on the MAC has alpha support.
If PNG fails, I think that the blame for that falls squarely in Microsoft's lap.
You should've bought a TI-85. They were out before the 83s, were vastly more powerful and just generally kicked all kinds of ass.. you could even program z80 assembly on 'em with the right set of hacks. I wrote a Scorched Earth clone in the ti-basic language.. you talk about sloooooow... drawing those trajectories as a graphing function... and yet, somehow, still fun...
You know, after viewing both The Phantom Plot and Attack of the Special Effects, I haven't the faintest desire to spend a dime on anything involved with Star Wars anymore? Lucas has killed it... it's gone.
I seriously doubt I'll be seeing episode 3, much less spending time/money watching a "behind the scenes" webcam that you know is going to be scripted and rigged just like all "Behind the Scenes" specials are.
... on how long it takes before someone cracks/hacks whatever security these things have and begins making megabucks by planting remote cardreaders in places like mall store entrances?
How long will it be? Say, to the nearest hour or so?
Ok, so what, exactly, are they planning to sue him for? It's not like he can be held responsible for what IBM may or may not have put into the kernel. Or can he?
That aside, Real's player software is so nasty it can physically drive the air from your body. If I wanted to undergo "the RealOne Player Experience", I'd just hit myself in the head with a wifflebat repeatedly and save myself the download time...
The Matrix Reloaded is available through BitTorrent? Wow, thanks BBC, I never would have known that without that story! Now I just gotta find that.torrent file...
Endymion and Rise of Endymion are the ones you're looking for. They take place, as I recall, about 400 years after the Fall of the Farcasters. Unfortunately I can't tell you much of anything about them without spoiling the story. Just read 'em.
It would not have made much difference... it was a motorized revolving door, with room for only one person at a time. Even if the badge scanner was turned off and the door solenoid held closed, that's still only one person per second or so going out that door, and that's assuming it's a nice neat line and not a mob of panicking employees. I'm not sure what their fire plan was.
And a 23 year-old male with a clean driving record pays two to three times what a 26-year-old female with 3 accidents on her record pays. No matter WHO you get insurance through. Statistical analysis sucks.
Yeah. The first sign that I had been laid off from Deere & Co. was that my ID badge would no longer open the door to let me out of the building. Some nice guy used his badge to let me out, and then used it again to let himself out. I heard later he'd gotten in trouble for doing that, too, since the security system flagged him as having left twice. I guess the Proper Action would have been to leave me cooped up in the building overnight until someone got around to telling me I didn't work there anymore.
I bet law enforcement officers are going to just LOVE this. Now, when they go to nab somebody they're going to get a jolt that knocks them on their unsuspecting ass, while the person they're trying to get runs off grateful to his/her electric jacket for their escape...
Cities like Athens or New Mexico have become nearly unlivable...
I know New Mexico has a low population density, but is the whole state really considered a single city?

Fine. Now does he have a good idea for what to do when the next dinosaur killer comes along? The longer the human race is confined to this planet, the less likely it is we're going to survive as a species.
Of course, helping delay extinction won't put money in his pocket, so I suppose that's a lost cause...
This is off-topic and will probably be moderated as such, but can you point me to an example of a fiecely logical structured argument for the existence of God?
Your point about the Imperial March is well-taken. But the Thuggee Ceremony music is more.. well, nightmarish. To put it in D&D terms, I think it's a matter of Orderly Evil vs. Chaotic Evil.

"If he'd died while carving it he wouldn't bother to carve out "auuuuuuuugh".. he'd just say it!"
"Perhaps he was dictating?"
"Oh, shut up!"
We need more dramatic changes than that.
There's nothing else for it. We need Lord Vetinari. Someone call up Terry Pratchett and tell him to take over the world. Please. Quickly.

I have. And I agree.
You should read "Hyperion" by Dan Simmons. Or "The Hole Man", a short story by Larry Niven.

I wonder if using a bootdisk to bypass a password (like the linux-based Windows NT/2000/XP password reset boot disk) is illegal under the DMCA?

"Acts of root" just doesn't have the same ring to it... sounds more like a program guide for a mini-series about emancipation.

Ah, I knew "orderly" wasn't right, but I couldn't think of the correct word. See, I've never actually played D&D... only Rifts.

If I had mod points I'd mark this funny. You nearly made me blow my morning Coke out my nose.
Let's hope that Lucas' stickler for quality attitude makes this set a good one.
Stickler for quality? Lucas? You have SEEN the new Star Wars movies, right?
