You do know, if you are calling domestically from the US on a wireless phone, you do not have to put the prefix 1 on the beginning of the phone number. I noticed that with my first cell phone over 10+ years ago. And every time I use a landline, I get annoyed with the operator message that I need to use a 1 to dial a long distance. You would think if I didn't enter more than ten digits they would know to dial domestically.
However, I have a shorter than average height. I currently have the GNex, and find it a little large. I have to use two hands to steady the phone while using it.
It would be ideal if I could power on the phone with my pinky resting on the bottom to keep it from slipping out of my hand. As it is now, I can do that, but my thumb/index finger is stretching all the way up to the power button (right, top of phone) and usually my pinky will slip off the bottom before I reach it.
I also used to be able to swipe and type one handed with the OG Nexus. Now I hold the phone with my left hand and type with my right.
It's shame they can't offer people different sizes of the same phone (especially nexuses? nexii?). Give people the option of the 4", 4.5", and 5" screens.
People are shot accidentally all the time. (There's a case in South Africa with a famous Olympian right now that MAY come into that category.) p>
Yeah right, He accidently shot his wife four times. What did he have an automatic handgun? The rest of your railing against the owning of guns may be correct, but there is know way you can say he accidently shot his wife. Shot Once or twice I may believe you, but three or four times....
Most handgun accidents are caused by the owners stupidity. Leaving the gun unlocked for their two year old to grab hold of. Pointing a gun at a friend, because you believes it is unloaded, when it's not. These people never realize a bullet is still in the chamber, despite removing the clip until it is too late.
If you think CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News is bad try viewing any of our local news broadcasts in any US City. Instead of reporting real news, it is either a human "interest" story or what Honey Boo Boo did on the program today. I only view the traffic and weather before I leave for work, they can keep the rest of their broadcast.
Sounds like most of the US businesses. I see it all the time where I work. It's quite possibly anywhere in the world. The higher up you are on the corporate ladder, the less you work. Yes, there are exceptions.
It happens in the private business, state and federal govt, and even the military (I am not talking about soldiers in combat).
I wouldn't mind that, but let's make them 10 hour days, so I get a four day weekend. Besides the personal bennefits of a four day weekend, working 3 days would help cut down fuel use, cut traffic, and of course bring down unemployment. In theory, I could be more productive.
Take a nap at your desk or in the breakroom. Or ask your boss if you can leave a half hour early for working during half of your lunch. I know several people that do that.
I live 5 minutes from work, so my hour long lunchbreak, is 10 min in traffic, 5-10min of preparing meal, 10min of enjoying meal, followed by my 40min nap. How long do I get for lunch again?
...and they will have to allow Win8 users to not have to see what they've built into their apps store. I think they will resist both of those quite strongly.
How would giving people a UI choice keep them from using the Metro apps? All they would have to do is make a program run the Metro app/app store either in a window or worst case in fullscreen.*
*disclaimer I am not a programmer, nor do I play one on TV. It just might be hard to write a program that will run one of those fancy new Metro apps.
Most people upgrade once their hardware dies, but most/. posters will upgrade when the need or bank flow rises. As far as using 8, a lot of us have to use 8 to support users that are stuck with the OS. If you won't learn the new OS, you start to look like that mechanic that will not work on Fuel-injected IC engines. You look foolish to your customer not knowing how to use the current OS, no matter how vile it is.
All they had to do was include an app viewer in the next operating system. They could have still included this Metro monstrosisty, but give people an option to use Windows 7 UI, or even the old classic from 95/98. If the app viewer needed to be fullscreen, no big deal. They would still get the same amount of developers to their app store, but would not have all the negative press for this merging of two very different operating system. Instead they get all the hate from everyone that would rather use the old UI, the people using the Classic Shell or Start8, and the people sticking with pre-Windows 8 OS.
Yes, you Classic Shell/Start8 people I lump you with the rest of us h8rs.
Unfortunately, no Windows 7 upgrade is offered with most PC manufacturers in the US.
Fixed that for you.
That is how I see it as well, but I did not want fellow/. readers to view my post as trolling. I know there are quite a bit of people that believe Windows 8 is the greatest OS since whatever, so trolling was not my intention.
if US manufacturers offered Windows 7. Unfortunately, no Windows 7 downgrade is offered with most PC manufacturers in the US. So, most people (average consumer) are relegated to using 8 as it is, using Start 8 or other similiar apps, or finding someone that knows how to install an OS on a computer.
How do they discourage people from using plastic bags in these plastic bag banned cities. Do they not have them at all in the grocery store anymore? Do they charge plastic bag using people more? Or do they just throw insults at anyone that uses one?
Why do they have the aversion to recycling plastic bags? I know the grocery stores around me recycle plastic bags. Unsure whether they actually do, but that is the better option, IMO. My Sanitation Department\City recycles them as well, which is where most of my plastic bags go.
No it's a term used over here as well. It is usually used in the business world to denote someone that is receiving recognition from the boss. As in, he must have polished his knob to get that promotion. We usually use a lot cruder language here in the states.
As for bell-end, term not used, but understood.
Some of the bluetooth connections, not sure if my phone or the OEM stereo, like to drop the connection and then you are blindly pushing buttons on the touchscreen to reconnect the connection. In theory I love bluetooth, but it is not as reliable as a good old copper cable. I have had the most success with bluetooth on the Ford Sync and whatever the Toyota uses. I think the Chevy's and especially Dodge can be a pain to keep wirelees connected over BT.
My 06 had neither a USB or stereo jack. Thankfully, someone pinned out the CD Changer port on mine to allow me to add a stereo jack. A little pricey for the adapter, but it was well worth it.
You answered your own post; they wanted to sell you that overpriced CD changer. However, lately the Auto industry realized most people were buying the generic stereo and replacing it with an aftermarket one. So, with their premium stereos they now usually have either the stereo jack, a USB, or both.
You might wonder why bother, but if that is not working, you either have to have the wipers full-on, or off; there's no intermittent setting, which quickly becomes very annoying.
So, if you get rain sensors you lose the ability to have incremental adjustments to the wiper speed. One step forward and three steps back.
I've also noticed on some cars you have no option to turn off the headlights either (not talking about daytime driving lights). I think I saw that in a Corolla I rented. It used to be polite when driving up to a manned gate to turn off your headlights, now with that there is no way to this.
Another thing that will annoy me the next time I buy a car is crap like putting an iPhone port in it. Great: my family uses Android. Even if we did use iPhone, you know the next version that Apple shits out will change the connector anyway.
Totally agree with that. I wish they would just stick a microusb port into the center of the dash with an adjustable cradle. I hate proprietary connectors.
That news reporter is awesome, she didn't even crack a smile when his chair broke. I would have been rolling on the floor laughing, literally.

I don't mind them manufacturing slider phones, I just do not want one. It adds too much extra bulk to a phone.
IMO, the perfect size was a 4" screen.

He's probably talking about Annual visit under an insurance plan.

...Yet, New England (and especially Northern New England) has some of the lowest levels of violence in the USA.
probably due to the prolonged winters. Hard to kill someone when there is three feet of snow blocking you in.

If we had tougher driving tests to weed out the bad drivers, it could also drop the auto crash fatalities.
However, the Bluetooth works great for android phones. It's usually the dodge and chevy's I have a problem with BT connections.
