I know, I was just mixing time periods to make the joke sound better. Gotta admit it is a funny sounding situation. Big ass T-Rex wandering around, smells a few proto-humans in a cave. Takes all night but the T-Rex patiently takes the cave entrance apart and has a nice snack to start his day. I mean they are more intelligent than we give them credit for right?

Call me a space nutter because I pretty much fit that description. In the last part of your post you mention that our energy runs out. As a self proclaimed space nutter, may I ask you what we are supposed to do when we are over populated and the energy runs out? If somehow we were able to make it into space we could maybe use some of that energy out there? The argument is old but eventually we do have to leave the planet. So why not now?

Now I am free to share all the inane BS associated with my life just like any 13 year old school girl. It's kind of cool. We just swap cutsie pie crap from the net and a couple of techy articles.

One thing I will say, google+ does have pretty open privacy standards (for now) and a page called Data Liberation. You can pretty much down load anything you put out there on your + page. Then you are free to take your data where ever you want to go.

Me first, I got the cell phone and the Garmin navigator talking via bluetooth. Love answering calls on the Garmin while driving. Hands free, sounds good, love it.

Ok, I do not love parking the truck, going into the convenience store, getting a call and the navigator picks it up when I open the flip phone. I cant hear them, they cant hear me cause their audio is routed to the fricking truck which is locked up out in the parking lot while I am picking out a 6 pack of beer.

I am guessing that the MS/Dell/HP folks turn all the features on out of the box. Mainly because if they don't the people buying the hardware will think they got ripped off. Like the customer buys the new laptop and bluetooth don't work. So they return it in a fit of rage because they are not used to having to turn things like this on? What No BlueTooth? Good comments, I am with you on most of them. I do occasionally get an actual OS CD from the OEM. Just to freshen up my stock. I totally understand why they went the embedded partition for a system restore. It makes it awfully handy to put the laptop/PC back like it was when it left the factory. Users usually lose the OS CDs or DVDs anyway. I also cringe every time I do a system restore with that embedded or hidden partition because just like you said, it's the first place I would put a virus if I knew how to write one. :)

I just opt to pay Dell or whichever OEM a little more money and they include the installation media. I remember way back when they started calling it media. I figured they were just setting us up for another charge so they could maximize their profits.

I wonder if this botnet survives a good DBAN? I use that tool if I even think the hardware was rooted. 3 Cheers for Darik! Huzzah, Huzzah, Huzzah.
