there was an interesting site with something that truely looked interesting (ffrom the grainy RM streaming video hehe), but apparently he has been arrested (according to some yahoo! news article i cant find right now) for fraud or something like that:P
i seem to recall reading about some bike with some crazy gear ratio that got somewhere around 250 mph, but it had to be towed up to at least 70 or 80 mph to overcome the bike and rider's inertia
i think i read about it in popular science or scientific american a couple years ago
okay, heres another geek to explain it:
in TOS, they had a warp scale where warp 10 and over was very fast, but stil possible, then in TNG it was made so warp 10 was infinie speed, and then for "All Good Things" i think it was explained in some official or quasi-official source that the warp scale was once again redone... no idea why:P
I saw something a little like this, with some blokes in england launching a car and then a blaming barrel of some petrolium product, exploding on contact... quite entertaining. I found it on filepile.org, but I think it has been dropped off the queue.
Yes, but I think the point is that MS is trying to give the *impression* that they were the first TECH company do have a pure research lab, and using the term 'software company' they technically aren't lying, just giving a false overall impression to the people who don't knitpick the details =P
