I love how when you expressed your opinion, mind you the non-majority opinion, you get modded down as flamebait. Now... Since this posting will most likely be modded down as Offtopic let me try to cover my own ass.
"Slashdot is great" "I think that he should be allowed to develop for OSX" "I think apple is wrong on this one!" "Open source is non-age specific!"
A Bostonism?? Jeez.. That's pretty sad if that's where you think that comes from. Jesus... If you want an accurate picture of where that type of language comes from try living in downeast Maine (IE: Machias, Lubec, Eastport, Calais NOT Portland) and after doing so, maybe then you can give proper homage to the term wicked smaht.
Yes, It certainly makes us wonder just a little bit.. wonder how the hell you were able to finish writing an article before collapsing dead from trying to spell 3% of the words correctly.
I can even burn it to a cheap, non-durable disk, that'll sound and look equally bad
You may wish to check in to A] a little more expensive CDRs or B] buy a new CDR drive because the quality of burned mp3s isn't crappy at all for the majority of people that take the time to burn mp3s to a CD. As for the cd booklet, I'm suprised to see that some people waste their time reading great artist quotes like "I thank god for getting to where I am" (or in the case of Morbid Angel, Satan), or looking at stupid, computer altered photos of the band memebers on stage.
wtf are you talking about? I don't use or attempt to use either "loose" or "lose" in my comment. I did accidently put flaimbait (for some unknown reason) and I'm deeply sorry it bothered you. Also, I don't believe that I was talking about the moderation of my comment.. as stated, I thought the parent was unfairly moderated. Thanks for the comment dick.
How the hell is the parent flamebait? It's that readers personal opinion that paypal isn't good and you should instead create your own online payment system... Christ.. Anyone says anything against slashdots new subscription service gets modded to troll or flaimbait
You raise some good points, however, I don't believe that 85$ would be out of the price range for a copy of windows. People routinely pay 50$ for a new game or more for other applications. While Microsoft may have to make some adjustments, I don't think that it will be a windows sinking problem.
Which is another possibility, sure... I just don't think that cheap PCs are going to sink windows. They may cut prices for the OS but that certainly won't sink Microsoft. The one thing I wanted to get across is that while some changes may take place, this isn't going to be the death of windows or the major rise of open source operating systems on machines that used to be windows based.
... one of the dumbest articles I've read in a while. Sure, Price is a factor in PC sales but whether a person goes out and buys a copy of windows or downloads an open-source OS ultimatly comes down to what they're familiar with. My mother would love to go out and purchase a new PC for 350$ but if it doesn't have a copy of windows with it, she'll simply go out and buy one.
... yellow text, with the strong tag on, font size 4, on a neon green background. Ooohhh... Also, embed a bunch of sounds! People love sounds... but make sure they are random sounds that have nothing to do with your website.
I agree.... This article is mostly old news to begin with. I remember hearing about all of this information back when the metallica v. napster was in full swing.
Yeah.. Your right... Piracy should be allowed if your too poor to get an off campus apartment and have to suffer with on campus TV services.. wtf... If you make that statement you should also just say that if someone can't afford a loaf of bread they should just walk in to the supermarket and take it. People who can't afford caviar should simply steal... err wait, we're not going to use that word, take the caviar. Maybe she should A] move off campus or B] have her parents order HBO and tape it for her. "WHAT??" you scream, "That's piracy too!" Yeah, Maybe.. but at least someone is paying for the damn show.
Yeah.. I guess it was a troll:( I was just trying to be funny... I'm sorry. You should revoke my slashdot account because I'm just a giant screw-up *SNIFF* All I ever wanted was the respect of the people that I lookup to.. people like jon katz and cowgirlneal... *SNIFF* I promise that *SNIFF* I'll never *SNIFF* visit *SNIFF* slashdot *SNIFF* again *SOB SOB SOB*
For fucks sake.... Nobody else had posted something like my article when I clicked the reply-to button.. How the hell is it my fault that I'm redundant??
.. I'm suprised that this was posted on slashdot.... Does Kathleen Fent run on linux? What is the most recent version? Hell, What does it do? Can I download it from sourceforge and compile it on my leet 386sx?
Oh come on... this should have gotten a few moderator points just for the fact that he took some time out of his busy daily sched. just to create a Kathleen Fent account. At least mod it to "1, Funny"
...I'd put in a leet virus that made it so that the blue error screens stopped comming up! YEAH! AND I'd make it so that the uptime of the box was at least doubled! Hahaha... My virus would be so eleet...
This is interesting, but not revolutionary.
High-end digital imaging devices (mostly digital and analog video cameras, but perhaps some still cameras) have been using 3 CCD chips for a long time to achieve RGB values for each pixel. It's usually done with a prism system that splits the incoming light into different colors which then are registered on different CCD chips.
In 1-chip devices, color is acheived through a matrix of filters which covers the CCD chip, allowing only certain wavelengths of light to reach each pixel on the CCD.
It seems to me that what this will really do is give us smaller, higher quality imaging devices. Let's hope X10 doesn't launch a whole new pop-under campaign...

Oh... I guess it's ok then. Whatever is easiest for you... God forbid you make the one phone call to the cable company or directv..

Anybody called Handspring for tech support lately?
:)
That's the good thing about a Handspring.. You have no need to call tech support
