    i bet they add all these features for the new one. unless they are having patent issues with MS which means no skype

    do i really want all the apps? no

    when i got my ipad 2 i ended up using it mostly as an ereader until my wife stole for the baby education apps to teach my almost 2 year old

    if i'm going to buy something new ereader is going to be my #1 feature and that goes to kindle. same with amazon streaming, kindle fire is the only tablet that does it now. i might get netflix again but now i have amazon

    for the apps i just care about the most popular ones like flipboard and a few others. same on my iphone, i use the most popular apps the most. and since i have an iphone 4s and an ipad 2 for a second tablet i just need something CHEAP and the fact that its integrated with amazon is a big plus. google experience? who cares. i check out play sometimes and half the apps are crap and worthless and the other half are also on iOS

    so you're going to give up "free" books and streaming media just for this google experience nonsense?

    can the kindle get gmail? - Yes
    can it do google reader? - yes. use Feedly which is a better interface than the google idiotic interface for reader. or use flipboard which is awesome by itself
    can it do music? - Yes

    as for the cartoony live wall paper and the customization most people don't care.

    at the same price i'll buy the kindle over the nexus any day. just for the amazon prime benefits

    i have a 16GB iphone with 4GB free space most time. some of us are not digital hoarders. i don't need 10 movies on my phone at any one time. i don't need 6 months worth of music either

    i also have a 64GB ipad 2 and most of the space is filled with crap i rarely use. only bought it because it was the only wifi version available on release day

    i used to have a 32GB iphone and most of the media on it i rarely used. 16GB is more than enough.

    not my favorite store, but i've bought clothes at wal mart that have outlasted stuff i bought from the hippy and snobby stores. usually anything from Gap/banana republic is the worst and tears up in a few weeks

    some of the $100 jeans i have from lucky and diesel can't last as long as some of my wal mart stuff

    wal mart has these things called brick and mortar stores that a lot of people shop at. they have food and beverages that people usually buy in a store. they also have lots of other things like clothing and toiletries that are easier to buy in a store than online.

    why buy my iphone online if i'm going to wal mart to buy some milk and other necessities?

    your generation had station wagons which were also the work of the devil according the greenies at the time. the 80's had minivans which were just as evil according to the enviro nazi's.

    most SUV's now are crossovers, which are just station wagons that are higher off the ground, have bigger wheels and a 4 wheel drive option which is awesome

    if you have a hardware issue just take it back to the store and have them replace it. that's what i did with my iphone 3gs a few years back. took 20 minutes at the genius bar including the waiting

    most of these problems are solved by buying a home in a good school district. its very easy to know which districts are the best as well

    of course it may also mean you will have less money for that giant SUV you don't really need, you may have to live in civilization instead of out in the sticks, and you may not have enough to upgrade that desktop every 2 months or buy a new smart phone every few months as well

    go straight talk which is GSM over AT&T and just use a canadian SIM when you go to canada

    most months i use less than 1GB. i'm on wifi almost everywhere. NYC is installing free wifi everywhere. why pay for mobile data?

    for streaming music you can cache locally with spotify and slacker without the need to stream all the time

    Virgin mobile is $30 a month for 300 minutes and unlimited data/texting. it's on crappy sprint but since i'm on wifi most of the day i wouldn't care. GPS? i just bought navigon for my iphone for $30, downloads the maps locally. you just need a GPS signal. no need to pay money to a good network like verizon just to download map tiles as you drive

    i'm personally going straight talk which is $40-$45 a month for unlimited everything and is on AT&T so i can use my AT&T iphones without buying new phones. and since it's unlimited minutes i'm going to cancel my home phone as well which is on time warner cable

    cricket is $55 a month but it subsidizes the iphone a little

    LTE does very nothing for me so i don't care if my phone is on CDMA or HSPA+

    go read the forums. full of idiots who worry about their old parents who don't know anything getting LTE for no other reason than its new. my crappy out of date motorola droid pro from my employer on CDMA streams pandora and slacker just fine.

    i remember the inflation of the early part of the last decade. i used to shop at costco and all the food and other things you bought on a regular basis would go up in price every month.

    but things like a 5 year supply of toilet cleaner or a 10 year supply of plastic wrap stayed the same. i still have a 3000 foot roll of plastic wrap i bought at costco like 7 years ago.

    its crazy, some stuff at costco will outlast marriages

    same here, the cheap stuff like minutes and text AT&T is giving A LOT of for less. the value which is the data they are charging an arm and a leg for. and if i have 4GB why am i still going to pay $20 for a tablet on my plan even if i don't use any data on it?

    Apple and Samsung are at fault too. $700 for a new phone? they are living on fat margins which are about to come crashing down as people go prepaid and keep their phones as long as a laptop
