    in NYC my electric bill is around $90 every month. breaks down to $25 for the electricity at $.095 per kilowatt hour, $55 for the wiring charge and the rest taxes and fees.

    why spend $1000 to save $5 a month in electricity costs? because if i reduce my usage by 20%, that's $5 whole dollars a month in savings

    amnesty for illegals is a constitutional power to overturn a criminal conviction. for ACA, read the law. most of them are vague enough to give the president a lot of leeway. and go read your own link. unfunded mandates are laws passed by congress

    because EO's have to follow the law and president's can't write them at will. even if Obama did write one like that there would be no funding for it since all funding bills originate in the House of Representatives and every program has to be funded by law. he can't just take a pot of money and spend it as he sees fit. every program and line item in the budget has to be approved by both houses of congress

    having served on juries and heard how people try to argue their case in something minor like a speeding ticket, there is a good reason for lawyers. most people will come into court spouting some nonsense that doesn't make sense or doesn't follow the law.

    less than $30 i can buy a blu ray with a digital copy redeemable on itunes or ultraviolet
    vs
    $30 to see a movie once in a crowded theater and with crappy 3D unless i'm lucky enough to get a middle seat and then it's a big PITA to go to the bathroom after drinking a gallon of coke in the first hour

    You will need the content delivery networks to rent space for good performance and Netflix is against paying a cdn or hosting fees.

    And someone will have to pay for the direct connections to the other content providers

    everything is virtualized to the point where they support average players months after release and not the day of release and idiots not only pre-order the games, they change the store country to play it the second it goes live somewhere in the world.

    i would never buy expensive jewelry from amazon. my wife buys some cheapo stuff from B&M because you can touch it and look at it and it's nice to take a walk sometimes.
    Cutlery?, i have had the same knives i bought from Williams and Sonoma for the last 10 years
    clothing, B&M since it's easier to return it if it doesn't fit but my wife buys kid's shoes online and not from amazon because they are too expensive

    i'll buy blu rays from best buy because i can do it on the way home from work and there is always a decent one on sale. they had a better BF sale than amazon and i bought a bunch of movies and games and my mom bought 2 games as gifts for the kids

    Fry's doesn't care what type of porn you watch. all they have to know is WHO buys the big hard drives and match it up with a few other data points to market to you. stuff like pre ordering digital copies of video games to play them the second they go live and whine about server issues

    why would i care about Target tracking me through their app inside their store when i'm going to pay by credit card that is in my name anyway?

    better they track me so they put stuff i buy up front rather than me having to walk through the whole store

    it was horrible on black friday. Target knew I was looking for Lego's when i looked them up on the app in store to check the location. even worse, they tracked me to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles aisle that was cleaned out by the time i got there around 9pm

    most of the cellular carrier mergers
    back in the day you got like 60 minutes a month, used it even if calling on the same carrier, no long distance included, no night/weekend minutes, no roaming unless you paid a lot more money, $.25 cents per text and no choice of text plan and a crappy small network where you drive 50 miles from home and you roam

    TOS was a bunch of LSD lights and kirk visiting stupid copies of earth
    TNG a bunch of technobabble and reengineering the ship to solve the problem of the week
    DS9 was a bore until the main plot line was introduced and then it was a by the numbers war story
    never got into Voyager

    Out of the movies only 2 and 6 were watchable although i liked The Search for Spock as well
    ST Generations sucked
    the borg movie had so much potential and the B&B twins ruined it with a stupid time travel story
    Insurrection was hyped to the point it was a let down when i saw it
    didn't bother with the romulan movie

    i hated the time travel reboot of the Abrams movies, but they were a lot better than what came before them but even then so much story and canon wasted on what could have been awesome romulan/klingon war movies and real exploration and discovery of believable alien worlds

    i'd be surprised if apple didn't win the case. they blocked and non-apple DRM like every other company out there and Real had to hack it. but in the end itunes allowed you to use any hardware you wanted as long as the maker coded to a few of apple's API's. i use my Note 3 with itunes on my macbook. itunes itself has supported non-apple devices for many years as long as the files don't have any DRM.
