  5. How to regain market share? on Whither Netscape 5.0? · · Score: 1

I dig Mozilla. But what's Netscape/AOL plan to market the browser? How do they expect to gain the market share they've lost? Microsoft has an advantage because they control the desktop. I suppose AOL could integrate Mozilla into their clients, but don't they have contracts with MS?

  6. Security and my NT boxen on Microsoft Clarifies Linux Myths · · Score: 1

I don't work in the "enterprise" (I hate that word), but I run a few NT machines. Honestly, I don't have time to check NTBugtraq every single day for the latest exploit. So I've given up. That's right, my NT machines are vulnerable to just about every attack since June of this year. The hotfixes and service packs since SP3 have been a nightmare. If I do get cracked, everything gets wiped and restored from a tape. So..FUCK YOU, MICROSOFT! :)

  7. Nice write up on Road To Linux -- Made It! · · Score: 1

Great article, Jon. It's nice to see that there are people out there who want to understand what they are doing instead of having someone shove it into their face and accept it. A pacifist attitude like that seems to been shoved upon just about every home user, SOHO, and corporation by software companies (uhh...maybe Microsoft?) today.

Maybe Linux will change the way people think about their computers? I highly doubt it, people want a no nonsense word processor that they don't have to understand. That seems to be the attitude among Americans today regarding just about everything.

    We aren't thinking for ourselves!!

I'm also looking at Interaccess for DSL. Looks to be pretty fast (1.5Mbps up/down), but the installation is a few hundred plus monthly fees are something like $80 and I can't get service before September '99. Anyone have any comments on Interaccess DSL?
