er my Linux and OSX HDD's are encrypted with different passwords either with Knox or TrueCrypt, so unless I'm missing something which I'm happy for you to tell me about, what's your point? You still have to brute force the OSX password with this method and my strong password means that's going to really slow up your day and then you have to get past my encryption password. So basically all we're both saying is, encryption is a good idea if you want to protect your laptop. Frankly I'd rather put my money on TrueCrypt than BitLocker anyway.
The password isn't broken here either, it still has to be brute forced and a strong password makes this whole thing totally useless, that still doesn't excuse OSX allowing access to the hash but still, you have to brute force the password. He's worked out how to access the hash/salt which is impressive and requires Apple to take a serious look but still makes it harder to do this than it is to get into a Windows machine, which is totally and utterly trivial to do.
It's easier on Windows frankly, but I agree that they shouldn't be defended and fanboying your own choice of OS over another just because they are as bad as each other, is not a good idea.
It's trivial to break the password on a Windows machine, in fact a hell of a lot easier on a Windows machine, if you have physical access. I'll happily do it, and have done it, in about 10 seconds with a boot USB or CD if the machine so too old for USB. A friend assures me a Linux box isn't that much harder. I use Linux, OSX and Windows in one form or another for my given needs but I feel that the REAL issue here shouldn't be "it's easier to do this on Windows, it's all anti-Apple FUD", but rather "we shouldn't be fanboys to any company/brand/make/type, there is no excuse for bad QA and security auditing in any OS". Ultimately though, physical access is the death of any OS.
I'm sorry you're having such trouble coming to grips with the fact that Apple, having gotten some real market traction after decades as the beloved underdog is now nurturing their inner moustache twirling villain and seems to have aspirations to a persian cat.
Oh right okay, so because I understand trade dress and you don't, I'm an Apple fanboy, cool.
Oh right, I see, so you start with one incorrect point, fail to understand how trade dress works, fail to grasp Samsung had early supplier views to iPad designs which no one else had, change your point and still fail to understand how trade dress works and proclaim that you're unconvinced. Fair enough.
It's going to take some amazing logic to convince me Apple should prevail in their claim that Samsung's phone receiver icon infringes on Apple's phone receiver icon which in no way was ripped off from Ma Bell's phone receiver icon.
You seem to have read the post, and then totally not been able to grasp the point...
..and copy and pasting Apple's icon designs, using Apple's style of packaging, a device that looks very similar to an iPad which Samsung had early access plans to because they helped build it. Why is it so hard for you people to grasp that this has nothing to do with Apple patenting a rectangle, it's a TRADE DRESS CASE, of which a number of issues have been raised, not just one. No one cares if Sony made a white laptop, Apple on the other hand feels that copy and pasting Apples icons, using Apple style packaging all on a device that does look very much like an iPad that Samsung hand access to before anyone else, is a trade dress issue. I don't care which side of the fence people fall on when it comes to Apple vs Samsung but can you people PLEASE try and understand what a trade dress issue is and how "a rounded rectangle" has nothing to do with patents and has to be placed in context with a number of other trade dress issues. This is not just about "a rounded rectangle".
Jessh whatever, like the judge ONLY looked at ONE image supplied by Apple of the products and the the actual physical products (hint, that is actually the case the Judge had access to a number of pictures and the actual physical products).
Hey now, don't cut yourself short here. It's not the research it's your magic powers that somehow enable you to bless HDD's to give them a 100% never fail rate. It's either that, or your "research" managed to find you a company that will, 100% assure that they don't need a warranty because their products never, EVER fail so no warranty is needed. News flash dumb ass, sometimes even new things go wrong, that's why we have warranties and companies don't employ you to sit at the end of their manufacture line, blessing hard disks with your magical powers.
ha, that's comical. So wait wait... your systems are rock solid, so you build your own laptops do you? You mean to tell me that if you bought RAM from a company and that RAM was faulty, some how, SOME how your system wouldn't be effected, because you build rock solid systems, some how RAM becomes magical in your hands and becomes fail proof, SOME how you can assure 100% that nothing in your machines will ever fail? Oh wait wait, YOU must design and build your own memory. Shut the fuck up, she''ll take laptop back to the shop and get it replaced under warranty, like any normal human being does, be it an Apple, Sony, Dell or whatever. You on the other hand, make dumb remarks about your kid "dealing with her consequences", wow you're an ass.
Yeah, I have to press a button and then walk to my wireless printer, ffs Apple why do I have to walk to my printer? It's so hard pressing a button with absolutely zero configuration needed, you should make it so that I just think my document to the printer, THEN it should float into my hands.
What I find interesting about Christians and Christ, is that whenever the bible makes out Christ was a dick (i.e. cursing a fruit tree to never have fruit again because he wanted fruit but the tree was out of season so there was none to have) Christens call it a metaphor, but whenever he did something awesome then that's totally real and actually happened.
basically for the same reasons as to why full OSX isn't put on iPads. So tell me again the point of having full Windows on a tablet when we're going to end up being limited anyway? Starting to lose interest already.
>>Well, then. That already proves 95% of the Christian right doesn't follow Jesus.
What standard are you setting here?
If they try to follow the precepts, but fail from time to time, does that count?
There is a difference between honestly trying and failing, and just being a contradicting pompous shit.
The bible, contradict itself? Never! Nonsense!
I've heard this interpretation before, but an awful lot of Christians still cite Leviticus whenever it suits, often while eating a bacon cheeseburger.
Too true, too true.

You sir... Have the gift!
Oooooh I see what you did there, "you're ugly", "no you are".

So my phone is a Droid2, my laptop is a Dell running FC 15 instead of a MacBook.
And I bet flash runs shit on them both.

The touch screen probably wouldn't accept input from a 10 foot barge pole.

I bet you're awesome to be with at parties.

So... That tree died for our sins? ALL HAIL THE FRUIT TREE!
Well, get the fuck out of the mans way then.

God damn it, every time I come on the internet I owe someone $100.
