No, it's not, and hasn't been since windows 3.11. Dos is to windows as lilo is to linux, with one exception- In windows, if you have some freaky disk hardware without drivers, you can access it through the dos/bios combination. In linux, you're just stuffed....
If I have a program (msdos) sitting in memory, does that mean that everything else is just a shell on top of that program? Rubbish!

Americans laugh at what we pay for internet. Cable and ADSL is not an option for me, and I live in one of the nicer suburbs in the capital city. ISDN is thousands to set up, about $100/month, and.19/mb.
You guys have it made compared to us.
But the states... Man, what I would live to move to the states and be paid what I'm worth, and not have to trade in my car on a broadband net connection.

Napster, is for people to illegally download pirated music. That's all it is. Anybody who's lookning for music they're allowed to download will do it much quicker and faster in google or at mp3.com.

If you do not know about how your car works, if you do not know about torque steer (fwd) or powersliding oversteer (rwd), then you are _more likely to kill somebody_ than me, who knows that I can accellerate into a corner in my starlet, and not a 200sx or people will die. Are we approaching a critical mass for advertising? I mean, people have accustomed themselves to ignoring ads on webpages- anything banner-like at the top of page I just won't see (except now you've read that you've looked, haven't you?)
Same with tv ads. Unless it's something incredible, as soon as an ad is over, there's no way I could tell you what it was, and I'm not special- How long is it untill advertisers screw themselves, and advertising just stops working?
UT runs great on my Powerbook G3 (with a Rage 128), so does Q3... and im sure it runs even better on a G4 desktop. Am I really missing something besides pretty benchmark numbers?
'King oath you are. You get at least twice the frame-rate for most apps going from a rage 128, and you lose the "snow" effect these cards have. I have one in my Inspiron 7500 and while it's great for a laptop, it ain't serious gaming material.
