You had to have started off that 5 years with someone who picked you up with no experience. 5 years ago (at _least_), the shape of the industry was very different. Is it still possible to be hired on NO experience; or was that a thing of the past, before everyone started going into CS degrees? You may still be able to find work since you're riding on past experience, but will others be able to have the same experience you had?
Well, yeah, and what happens in reality if you jump off a twenty foot building is you hit the ground fast
Hitting the ground is a high impulse exerted on the ground (and conversely, on your poor legs). Since this guy is talking about being able to jump 20 feet in the air, there's obviously lower gravity. To be able to jump to 20 feet normally, you'd have to decelerate much much slower. Conversely, once you reach the peak of your jump, you will accelerate towards the ground much slower. You will hit the ground at the same speed you left at (neglecting air resitance, which makes sense since with a lot of air resistance, it would be much harder to attain the same height).
Since he can only jump 2 feet in the air, he is not able to push on the ground very hard. That is the maximum he can push against the ground. If he exerts the same force on the ground at a different level of gravity, he will decelerate much quicker and reach a speed of 0 slowly, giving him more time to rise in the air.
I'll give you that; but don't give up on general modern music. There are tons of great bands out there (although they certainly don't get coverage like the Beatles): Rancid (rancidrancid.com), Dropkick Murphys (dropkickmurphys.com), Dillinger Four (angelfire.com/mn/dillingerfour, Fugazi (http://www.dischord.com/bands/fugazi.shtml), The Unseen (unseen.unixpunx.net), Thug Murder (http://www.punkfreak.com/thugmurder/), Against All Authority (http://www.aaaonline.org/), etc. OK, sorry, those are all punk rock, but its just an example that music isn't dead.
Where? I'm only free to move to another similar country! Why do we even vote then? We'll all have fascist governments, and you'll find one that suits you by moving into the most convenient country! If you don't like police states, too bad -- they're all police states!
And well, if kids don't have rich parents, they aren't going to make use of their educaton anyways! they'll just waste my tax dollars and eventually drop out! Kids have rich parents for a reason, you know.
This will probably also be stated by other people, but what else are we going to talk about?
Why are schools focusing on this? Learning how to use MS Word and Internet Explorer is not something schools should waste effort or money on teaching. Schools also should not be the ones teaching these things. Kids can learn them on their own. I did. They do not, in any way, aid teaching. It is also pointless to teach these things. Giving each kid one of these won't give them a better education. This is a growing problem in our schools: replacing time that could be well spent on learning with playing with the latest gadgets. We use calculators now instead of teaching kids multiplication. Sure, using a calculator is convenient, but do kids even understand that multiplication is anything more than pushing a few buttons on a tool? In addition, I expect a good part of school time will be wasted on fixing problems with the computers that arise. Exactly what is so important about macs that nessitates buying 40000 of them? What will be replaced in the school budget to pay for these items?
Granted, computer science classes may be beneficial, but I hardly think that is what the 40000 computers will be used for, especially in 7th grade. Besides, if they're going to learn programming, networking or system administration, why Macs? Use a UNIX or at least (I can't believe I'm endorsing this) Windows.
Yeah, it could probably be used... but not to power the actual source of heat (Athlon).
I'm not sure how efficient it would be for such small amounts of heat, however (how many Watts, on average, does a processor waste to heat, anyways?). Also, I'm not sure how it would work to take the heat from it. I don't know much about that area of physics and I don't know if the lack of a heatsink-like device would hard the chip. Granted, I think it would suck in the heat, but... I don't know.
You know, this may very well true; but you have to wonder: is this true? It would be good PR for Microsoft. People love buying Microsoft even more than people guessed! The average person when reading this will probably think, "wow, people love buying the wonderful new Microsoft operating system! Maybe I should go out and buy it." Many companies have had press releases like that. If it backfires, they apologize and blame a scapegoat, and everyone forgets.
Yeah; exactly. If he's so guilty, then put him in a court of law. If the government puts up even a small fraction of the evidence they claim to have, it should be more than enough to convict him.
I see. You are unable to control your own child, so you think such restrictions should be extended to ALL children? I don't see why you have to be a parent to anyone but your children.
Actually, I hear they banned the TI 89 too now, something about infrared beaming data.
no; they are counting well past 1; merely in base2 rather than base10. You can count to more than 9; right?
How long ago were you first hired?
I can't get hired at low skill jobs (i.e. lugging boxes) without experience; I can't imagine being hired as a programmer or sysadmin.

1.) uplink/downlink speed?
2.) disconnect every 2 hours? (and make you wait 5 mins.)
3.) $/month?
4.) reliability?
Sure it's cheap, but I had to share my non-discovery with the world. And by world I mean Slashdot.
Did adding a few lines bring their site down?
If it works for the Z12, then why does it only say "Z23, Z33"
Hmm, where's the driver for the Z12?

I thought Drink or Die was a Russian group.
Or is this something like Dmitri Sklyarov?
cunts have nuts?
That still doesn't make moving an excellent solution.

If everyone thinks you're an idiot, who is going to realize your genius and make you one of the technocrats?

In this universe, we obey the laws of thermodynamics!
No; he's our generation's Ed Meese.

Well, that's what the trial will attempt to determine.
