That's why you deploy frequency hopping. Come across a bad channel, or channels? Just hop over it... Decreases your available bandwidth by a bit, but you continue to run just fine.
The ISP I work for which is in Williamsport will be deploying Wi-Max Alvarion gear shortly. However, I don't know that that's really going to help you in remote PA. The problem being remote is even Wi-Max probably will not hit you here in the hilly areas. We use some 900mhz stuff and it works well through trees... but hit a mountain and you don't have a chance. Plus in most areas like that it just isn't cost effective to build out to hit 1 or 4 people.
Maybe here in safe Pennsylvania (or wherever you are).. but people are trying to setup computers so that people can check e-mail, register for aide, talk to family members, etc. Do you know how much easier it is to throw a live-CD in a machine and put it on say a wireless network link then it is to have to install W2K on every machine (plus there is the license...).. just get a bunch of old machines and setup a linux terminal server, or put a live-CD in.. but then those people can't register for FEMA stuff... so yeah it is a big issue.
Yes... there is no "feature" If you install a plugin that makes firefox read as "Internet Exploder" or use Opera's masking the site works.. so umm yeah this looks not good.
Ummm.. isn't that really the only reason you every purchase flood insurance? I don't purchase flood insurance for my house sitting atop this hill here.
Yeah I don't know what's up here in PA. PPL seems to have no buy back plans.. nor do they try to incentify people who want to install green energy.... *sigh*
Unfortunately I will not support the Red Cross in anyway. This includes giving blood. The Red Cross is one of the most poorly managed organizations in the country. They have horrible financial management and I will not in any way support them.
Which brings me to another thought. Does anyone know of any other organization or way to donate blood other then through the American Red Cross?
.. what about fragmentation? We're now going through what? 6 to 7 different Windows versions and we still can't fix the basic problem of file fragmentation? Good grief.
UPS always delivers on time regarless of if it is to work or home.
FedEx on the other hand, routinely delivers to the wrong hub here so packages are a day or two late as they have to be shuffled around.
I've had more then one package on which the delivery date online said "today" and it came and went, and I called FexEx... one time the package was delivered to the wrong hub in another city and had to be moved. The other the driver of the truck (which was loaded last night) didn't show up so the packages were not going to be delievered. Additionally FedEx does not deliver on Saturdays, but UPS does.. a very large plus for residential deliveries.
Because the "blocks" Google has put over the whitehouse obscure sooooooooooooooo much. Would it really be that hard to visually identify the whitehouse?!?! Even with these blocks? You can drive by it and see what it looks like... you can still match up the general overall shape of the building....It isn't like they put a huge block over the whole thing, they blocked out the actual shape of the building!
They can remove this thing with a hacksaw or by hand.. and yet they can't leave it there to just burn off? Something is fishie..... if it is that small that it can be removed by hand shouldn't it just burn off like other debris and dust?
VoIP is *more* secure then your PSTN... with the PSTN any doofis with a butt-set can climb the pole outside your house... or worse yet go OUTSIDE your house and tap into your line.
With VoIP you have to actually be on the network.. and not just on the network.. but IN the packet stream.
Hacker A who is on a server off the switch can't listen to your conversation... they woudl have to interrupt the packet stream flowing through the router.
Coded wrong and it worked.. hrmm yeah that shouldn't have happened.
As far as code... how can you expect a piece of code from 7 (5?) years ago to compile today.. there are vast changes that have taken place.. look at qmail... there was some sort of int_declare thing in it (I think) that causes it not to compile on newer version of GCC.. they had to update it to make it work.. you can't expect code to work if you leave it stagnent.
This is true... ahh PenTeleData... used to work there doing Tech Support... now moved up and do network administration at another ISP.
LOL.. Perhaps more remote then say Pittsburgh... but Wellsboro, or Ralston are remote PA :)

78% gave up in i-clod cause they couldn't figure out how to work it! I know I did!
Do you have a source for said solar panel? I'd be interested.
And remember.. it's only the FIRST time you access that file. After that the file is in order :)

And where exactly do I get the power for my laptop?

I already boycott fedex.. they have aweful develiery.. I use UPS whenever possible.
And as I look at it further.. it even gives GPS coordinates for where your mouse is! Yeah blocking the picture does alot! good grief.

Firefox support
rest assured we haven't abandoned our firefox users and are working on the issues continuously

hehe I used the main large window stream from NASA.. not a glitch :)
The site is down..... google never went down when it got slashdotted.
