Briggs said AIT is able to see where each of its advertising clicks are coming from, and in-house reports showing clicks from the same IP addresses indicate they are fraudulent.
So either, some meanie out there was clicking the link over and over, in which that person is responsible. Or else, perhaps the IP is one of Google's, as somehow Google sends the person who clicked over to the website?
WOW! This is by far the best analogy I've heard yet. KB3XXX calling W2XXX... yup... using a public medium.... people should be able to figure out who you are. The other thing is, as with radio, not everyone and their mother is going to look you up. For instance, just because I post my callsign someplace, doesn't mean joe-smith can figure out how to look it up. Likewise, on the net, not everyone (though many people do) knows how to look the info up.
But I agree, if you are going to use a public medium where you could interfear with other people or do illegal things, there should be some accountability.
I'm neither trolling, nor do I want to see an argument.
By running away from a bank robbery, or committing a murder you are doing something illegal... but it has nothing to do with your private road! You are doing something that is illegal regardless if you are on a road or not.
My point is you can drive unlicensed vehicles at any speed you'd like on your private road... OBVIOUSLY if you kill someone at that speed you may be responsible for it... however until you do something illegal you are within your bounds to do whatever you'd like on your private roads.
Oh yeah.. those taxes? You pay those for the rights to drive on the road... in fact I just got done paying $60.00 worth of road rental fees for this years driving rights.
And there's my beef: the slippery slope. If we let this fly, watch the "big difference" between them disappear. It isn't anyone's GOD DAMNED business when and where I go. I like to keep it that way.
Really? Then why are you using public roads? You pretty much pay a road usage fee each year to the DMV. By using their roads you agree to abide by their rules.. just like if you were at my house, you agree to abide by my rules for my house, or I can put you out. Nothing prohibits you from making your own roads and doing whatever the heck you please on them at whatever speeds you like.
My wife's hunting cabin has miles of roads that are private roads up in the mountains of Pennsylvania. No police enforce speed limits up there or pull you over for having "un-inspected" vehicles.... infact there are several camp owned vehicles which are not road worthy/inspected by the state, but are used up there to get around, because they still run.
"This can be achieved by building in connections to the vehicle ignition circuit so that failure to receive a moving GPS signal after some default period of vehicle operation indicates attempts to defeat the GPS antenna," the report says.
And what happens if my GPS antenna goes bad? My car doesn't start? I don't like this at all. Either it's my vehicle, and if YOUR device breaks that is your problem. Or it is YOUR (the state's) vehicle... hrmmm nice! I'd drive a new car furnished by the state, in exchange for being tracked.
One.. I already have this.. I'm an amateur radio operator and I have a GPS and packet transmitter in my car. If you pull up my website (not the one linked above) you can see where my car is currently, how fast I'm going, and where I've been in the last 7 days!.... oooooooooooooooo
Now.. this is a little different... and a few things come to mind... am I going to have to take my car to some place to have this installed? What happens if it breaks? Do I have to spend my time getting it fixed? How do I know if it broke?
From the article: Some GPS trackers constantly communicate their location back to the state DMV, while others record the location information for later retrieval. (In the Oregon pilot project, it's beamed out wirelessly when the driver pulls into a gas station.)
On the Oregon one... why can't I just fill up my jug of gas, while the car is parked in a parking spot and then transfer it over to the car, thereby avoiding the uplink. If it's constant communication seems like a low level RF signal by the car could block it out.
Well.. what is little billy doing running as an administrator? Oh his parents.. hrmm clearly they didn't know how to use a computer... sucks to be billy... but hey... irresponsible parents.. There should be a requirement to have a license to get on the internet.
This is interesting. As I am looking at what they seem to have indexed it seems that most of it is all material which holds some sort of Copyright. I have to wonder about the legality of this service. I realize that they are not actually holding the videos and files on their machines, but it still makes you wonder how long they will be around.
Exactly... There is absolutely no reason why the database server should be doing anything besides keeping the data. Any processing should be done on the webserver or application server. This keeps the load off the database server and keeps the database server running smoothly.
It never fails to amaze me that people are ready to jump on VoIP as being "insecure" when infact it is probably more secure then your POTS line. To tap into a POTS line all you need is a butt set. Climb your local pole (and look like you should be) and no one will question you. Or walk up and place a tap on the CO NID outside a building. If it's a business, look like you should be there, and again no one will question you.
To actually tap VoIP you need to be in the path of the packet somewhere. It isn't like you can just hack a server and sniff the traffic. You'd actually need to be on a router someplace, and have some way to get the packets off the router and into some form that you could make into an audio file.... Yeah, which would you do?
Stored Procs are pain my the butt. It's so much easier to just code the SQL statement into your code. If it's in a stored proc who can change it? Any one of the programmers or database administrators. If it's in MY code who can change it? ME! Yup.
That makes sence. I didn't purchase the phone for OBEX capability, I purchased it because it rocks on reception, and has some other neat features (ie. tethering), but definately not for the OBEX. However, as can be seen in my other post, my phone has now crashed. Why are consumer electronics so cheap?!?!
Don't get me wrong, I like my v710... but here are my list of issues, for which reason I am taking it back to Verizon Saturday to try to get it fixed...
* When plugged in to charge will say "Unable to Charge"
* If I open the phone to turn an alarm on, then close it, the backlight stays on (that's normal), however, if I now plug the phone in to charge it, the backlight never goes off (or into it's reduced brightness mode). I have to wait untilt he backlight goes off, THEN plug the phone in.
* The camera says "BUSY" when I try to use it. BUSY?!?! Who else is using my camera?!
* The phone locks up totally when I try to access the camera.
* After opening the phone, if I close it, after the timeout period, the text will go off the phone, but the backlight remains on, draining the battery.
* After being on for several days, the phone begins to run sluggish, especially when accessing audio files, recording voice, or taking pictures.
When I go over links they become "non-links" (the little bar under them goes away). The submit a comment page no longer fits on a single page but I have to scroll once or twice.... ARG! SLASHDOT IS GOING DOWN!
There is no connection between the Hurry-Canes and Global-Warming..... Hurry-Canes go in 10(ish) year cycles, just like sun spots go in cycles of being intense, and then dwindling off. STOP THINKING OF THINGS IN THE REFERENCE OF YOUR LIFE TIME PEOPLE!!!

After reading this statement, we believe you may be a terrorist with terrorist motives, and this post and your IP have been reported. Please stand-by.
How exactly do you (And the author) know this has only happened twice in 60,000 years?!?! Do you have some supreme knowledge? I'm just curious here.
Sorry I'm not seeing this tab under options.. I just see a list of stuff on the left... where are you seeing it?

Chicken little just wrote another news article I think.

There is no outage anywhere.
How the heck are you getting 1.1cent/minute phone calls to the U.S. from voipjet? They charge 1.3cents/minute for U.S. domestic.
My v710 will sporatically, when I plug it in, just say "Unable to Charge"... unable to charge?!?!?!

I purchased by crippled v710 in June of 2005, why on earth am I not entitled to some sort of compensation?!?!

How does this go with ID-Theft? Yup.. that's me.. see I look like me in this ID.... eeek!
You patch it just like any other software... And with firefox I just make an MSI and it rolls out to all my workstations.. easy as cake!
