``We hope to have Asimo on sale once it is more user-friendly, when it will be able to fetch things you ask for,'' said Makoto Hirose, senior chief engineer at Honda R&D Co Ltd.
An Asimo to get those slippers and a beer for you, an Aibo to fetch the newspaper... I think Honda is trying to sell joe-doe life to socially incapable rich geeks.
Lol, I can feel your anguish, since soton is one of my favorite sites. Maybe that tech dude was afraid of goatse alike picture and didn't dare to check....:)
>. Let's see, did I want to go to Shopping.com, shopping.org, shopping.net, shopping.biz or shopping.info? Enough already!
Actually, this is a consequence of earlier mess-ups with domain names. I mean, we are currently "blessed" with domain names which are either regionally focussed (.uk etc.) or fall into a few large categories (.com/.org). In my opinion, regional domain names do not really make sense, since the whole point about internet is its global reach. Furthermore, the most well known domain names (.com,.org) are used as collection bins where everyone with a site wants to fall in. It would make much more sense if the rules for domain name categories were held more strict and if these categories were made more clear.
I mean, the distinction between.gov and.edu is clear, but.com or.biz? But if we keep holding on to the "few different domain names is good" idea, instead of "quite a few easy but understandle domain names is good" then this problem will remain.
I'll bite (bit of professional math pride flaring up).
First of all, I am interested which number would be defined at 0 since I assumed B to not be equal to 0 (unless you are counting module B of course).
Furthermore, any mathematician who would accept a definition of 0 in a mathematical sense without a uniqueness clause should be fired.
And if you still do not get it, think clock times, where 1 am + 24 hours equals 1 am.
Next time, I'll include those humour tags for those who do not recognize it:)
As for the math part, (yes I knew it was about computer instructions) there isn't a single problem with A = A + B with B not equal to 0. Modulo arithmic for example. But then again, I am not sure what grade math level you need to have for that:-)
>An interesting read, if not a little technically intense for those of us with less than a CE/EE degree.
Tell me about it, I do have more then CE, two letters even, namely MCSE and even I had to stop when they started throwing around the heavy stuff. I mean, A = A + B is supposed to make sense even if B isn't equal to zero.
Hopefully future gnutella clients will incorporate something like this just for the time wasting potential of watching the graph wiggle while seeing what porn others are searching for.
This once more proves the power of plain text. I mean, what gives you more information in 1 second? A wiggle in a graph, or alt.sex.hamsters.ducktape ?
Basic idea is that the colour of a light saber is determined by the crystal that is used to focus the energy beam. You can have lightsabers with several crystals, allowing for several different colours and different settings of beam length etc.
If this Ghz race remains the main focus for AMD and Intel, we might need Quake 25 Thunderdome just to keep up benchmarking. I am not convinced that a few Mhz is instantly better, but you can never have enough Quake engines:)
A good article, and I hope that it accomplishes one thing: that people are willing to give Perl 6 an honest chance before burying it with arguments regarding syntaxis or "it's nothing new". I for one am anxious to see how Perl 6 will feel and how the differences will make my life easier. If it doesn't then I still got 5 waiting patiently to see me return to my senses:)

ermz, isn't this the essential part of science? Every astrophysic I know is among the first to admit that the current theories are still based on several large assumptions, and can are turned over every once in a while. This makes it one of the most exciting parts of science since there still is lots of new things to find out and do. So next time, replace the word may with should or will.:)
We have a nice oppurtunity to influence all VB scripters and turn them away from M$! It's easy, you can help too. If you see a clueless person in the bookstore, looking for "Programming XP in 24 hours", step up to them, smile and show them the shelf with eXtreme Programming.
I think it is pretty obvious that your pretty obvious statement is based on nothing since the article is about.net services, not about developing for.net As a developer, you can build your own services, for no fee.
Mercury has some nice tools. The main thing which seperates them and other commercial products from the "free" or do-it-yourself tools, is that they have automated the recording and analysing features and wrapped it in an easy to use GUI. This makes it easy to reuse scripts and compare data. I work at the it department of a large corporation, and we have a dedicated team for load testing, and having been using mercury for several years now. There are also other nice commercial products, like Compuware's ecotools. What is best for you depends on what you want to do with it, how often, how many virtual users, and what you want to measure during the test (i.e. can you also correlate the memory or CPU usage during test with your test date automatically).
This keyboard is incomplete, I can't find the "windows" key! Nor the "any" for that matter. This palm also does not feature colours, so how am I gonna recognize that blue screen eh? It sounds to me like an overpriced product considering these missing (undocumented) features.
Well, it could be the first opportunity to settle the Loch Ness mystery :)

Or just have all the pr0n servers replace www. with xxx.
Maybe then legitimate sites like xxx.soton.ac.uk can return to the regular web.

If I pull all-nighters, then my code already starts to look like the Perl 6 syntaxis some people dread :)
See here for a short introduction to the Hall and Quantum Hall effect.

Cool!
If I can choose between dragging several pounds of laptop or bringing my palm in my pocket for a presentation, then I give a damn :)

I'd say, RTFF.

A cray in your pocket? It would better have some good cooling then, or you'd get some nice pick up lines.
Him: Hey, baby, you make me feel *hot*.
Her: Just take that cray out of your pants, geek boy.
And you can't smile for pictures, or you'd be picking your teeth for days to remove all the little flies.
