Unfortunate position? Not really. How much demand
is there these days for a non-Linux *nix?
No, unfortunately, it appears to be a fortunate
position for MS, continuing the FUD.
SCO worked hard to stall, stall, stall, but
even the courts have tired of their bs.
Well, maybe the 'browser war junk' as you put
it still exists because *you* indirectly support
it by 'dealing with multiple bwowsers'. Instead,
why don't *you* just design your webpages to W3C
standards and be done with it?
To be more accurate, they don't drop the matter,
they enter into cross-licensing agreements, which
in theory, give respectability to the patents.
Giving respectability to the patents, even
if the patents are questionable, actually leads
to further abuse of the patent system.

It's really amazing how well the administration
is playing right into Al Qaeda plans. Really amazing. They want to destroy America, and
now, via the administrations reactions (creation
of DHS, etc, etc), their
goal is being accomplished by the systematic
distortion and destruction of the U.S. Constitution. There does not need to be any
terrorist attack again, only the threat of such
and the continuance of the current administration,
which will continue on it's misguided way.
My first thought. But I'm sure they didn't need
much encouragement as they will likely suck up
major fees anyway. Class
action lawsuits these days really are abused,
and hopefully anyone that thinks they were materially affected will realize that they have
very little to gain in the end if they join the
class. But, yes, unfortunately this does suck.
A side note: The writer mentions that IE had
this feature and that Mozilla was slower for
that reason. That is not correct. Very old
versions of Netscape had this feature.
No, *nix is not weak in this regard, it is actually
the power of *nix!
You have the power to do it how *you* want
to do it, for example:
ls | more
ls >/tmp/ls.out ; cat/tmp/ls.out | less
ls >/tmp/ls.out ; vi/tmp/ls.out
ls | grep "something"
You don't ever want software to guess what
the user is thinking, or to pre-suppose that
you know what the user really wants. Software
that tries to be cute, fancy, or a mind-reader
is almost always wrong for someone. In fact,
software like that usually gets in the way
of doing what the user is trying to accomplish.
Good points. One of the older (by not really crap)
boxes should be put in place as a firewall, and
if they already have a firewall that is old, it
should be upgraded. You don't want to have to
rebuild your firewall when you least expect it.
The firewall should *not* be some box you buy
and cannot control, but preferably iptables on Linux.

This guy certainly knows about Elves.
I'd change your name on some of the stuff to Timmy.
This article says they are blocking 23,000 attempts per day.
That has not been proven. If things continue on its present course, past, say November, well, all bets are off.
Why Not? - Because they are no longer meeting all IT needs, in fact they are basically the problem. Security is more important today.
SBC? This is a FUD article totally in the mode of MS. Same problem (losing marketshare), similar FUD.
Still available!
Yes, dealing with MS is a pain in the ASP.

Red Hat Vs. The Lawyers
I guess 'The Lawyers' wanted the publicity more than 'The Ambulance Chasers'.
Oh, yeah, that's what SCO wants, isn't it? This is twisted FUD coming from Yahoo, Yahoo now tied into the The Great Enterprise IM love-in?
They've went to the DarkSide.
You're right, it's not Al Qaeda. It's also not MS.

Yes, Odeon has messed up in a SCO fashion, but I can imagine that MS actually pressured Odeon to do this.

Ifr you wait one month, the fixes to the fixes will be out.
I agree, this is suspicious.
Unfortunately, I can imagine a scenario...
There's not much more to say, you will be about as current as you can get (for a few days), and it should be stable and have lots of tools for you.
Can you get it with whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry on top?
