If you look at the parent you would see this is in reference to linux installations for servers. No sane person would set a kernel without module support for a non-techies desktop. Stop trolling.
Compile all needed device drivers into the kernel then do not include module support with that kernel. Of course any changes in your system in the future will require kernel recompile, but thats half the point.
Thanks, I think she can handle that. I was just imagining that this movie could easily turn into Event Horizon if the reavers were a truly central theme.
I'm still waiting for the push for near absolutle zero deep water power plants (effectivly solar)... Shit probably not gonna happen (anyone know the official name of these?)
Just a question, does the movie ever get gross and gorey with the reavers, my wife really can't stand that kinds stuff, but she likes the series (except the one reaver episode of course).
Ok current estimates are 5-7 days of travel time. Traveling only during the day on just solar power halfs this estimate. I guess you could have budget lines... For when it absolutly has to be there..... next month.
Ok while watts are energy per time, I'll assume this to be 10^40 watts per seconds. Which is about 8E37 Coulombs which is 5E57 electrons.Yes I know this energy wasn't all electrons, its just a an estimate. Total mass of the visible universe is about 3E55 grams. One electron weights about 9E-28 grams. So the univese weights about 3E82 electrons. So this blast was 1/3E27th of the universe matter:) and this is per second. Ah nevermind I'm just being silly. I'm sure my calculations are way off, throwing around random figures left and right there:)
About the time when people stop making smack in thier kitchens with this stuff. But seriously personally I believe they should just let darwin take over..
Luckily our constituion and declaration of independance make it pretty clear that while we believe freedom is a god given right. We understand that government should exist to protect those rights and if its is not, people have a god given duty to fight for those rights.
No matter how you feel about the term God given, the point is that these rights are something that shouldn't be given by the state as what the state gives the state can take away... Ok for a better comparision, lets say the government gives you land. You probably wouldn't put up much a fight for it if the government decided later it wanted it back. But if say your parents or "God" gave you this land, it certainly doesn't belong to the government, and you will fight to keep whats yours.
Except for the ACLU of course.... I KIDDDD I KIDDD. seriously, guess I've been watching too much O'Reilly. The hearts of Americans and the desire to make or country work are what truly do make America great.
But you have to wonder if there will ever come a time when the blue states and red states (note: I hate this made up seperation with a passion) decide to have a civil war.
Do they really have a constitution that provides them these freedoms? English linky?? If so shouldn't they be charged for civil rights abuses by the UN if they arn't following their own rule of law?
Hu? We've succesfully ploted satallite course that do very near flybys of several planets in a row. We can accuratly project where and astroid will go, problem is projections start to get a bit hazy after 20 years out. And this is mainly due to not knowing its exact mass, as well as unpredicable random forces (small astroids, sun flares etc)
Well ultimatly as you stated information providing is a service. In the long run services are where the money is. In the theoretical future of nanotech/robots/anything you want created instantly that things of value will be 1. Land 2. Matter 3. Services 4. Energy (even if we discover practically free energy our energy requirements will go through the roof when we start constructing things from atoms and beaming things from one place to another)
People won't nessesarly be willing to pay you to cook dinner or build a house any machine can do that, but you will pay for a human waiter, and for someone to design your meals and design your house. All three of these can be done by a machine, but people will pay for the special care that humans can provide. And there will always be lawyers and protitutions.. Sorry repeating myself.
And even if the voltage wasn't the problem, its still a matter of.. You can't put the square footage you have on your RV ontop of a hybrid. As well tilting them to the sun would be difficult at best. Current model uses extra 12V battery pack to store solar power and trickles that into the existing recharge system (brake regenation etc) while the car is running. They claim to get significant increase in effiencieny but obviously the figure is widly dependant of how much you drive a day and where car is parked.
Actually the fact that NASA took a chance and built a reusable entry vehicle isn't the problem. Its the fact that it was designed by budget/cold war commitees. Most of its designs consisted of the special request by the airforce that the new shuttle needs to be capable of 1. flying into high latitude orbits artic orbits (something thats never was done.. atleast publically) 2. Be able to steal russian satalites (ditto) 3. Be able to quickly land after stealing russian satalites on a US runway (this runway was never constructed, and the runways that are used would require extra orbits to adjust from a artic latitude).

Its obvious, and its been done. But its gets you maybe and extra half mile a day at peek performance while costing and extra few thousand, just not worth it for the cost ratio. Plugin hybrids make much more sense, and you can attach those to better quality larger solar collectors if you wish
No apparently this is a bad combination of old, new and bad news. The annoncement that Vista was broken was a year ago. Signifant changed where made, and its now looking better. The rumor that Microsoft was breaking up was last week, buts its still just a rumor.
Its.... broken.... or a conspiracy. I managed to ask one question concerning why the article stated Microsoft announced last week its breaking up, as I hadn't heard this news. Then article got pulled... Conspiracy??! HAAHHA
That was an inital thought using a downward going cable to counterbalance and upward going cable. Unfortunatly that would require the cable moving, something nearly impossible as these cables have to be wider at the top. There is way to generate power going down and its debatable if that power should be stored in local batteries or beamed back to the ground. Guess it just depends upon the exact weight of batteries and storage/beaming efficiencies, I'm sure we will know the numbers better once this technology gets and real test.
If no operating system ever existed previously and you created a bootloader for the very first operating system. This wouldn't be BIG news, as it was using previously tested tech but its still an important step. Yes most involved knew this test would be fine, and there really wasn't anything "big" about it. But to the rest of the world, it does show that this group is commited to reaching their goals. Of course armadilo tested a rocket, that doesn't mean they will ever reach space.... So maybe this is non-news.. Who knows..
Actually battery power wouldn't hold out. Current idea is to beam power through lasers. This technique is known to work well with fixed points but could produce problems if tether bends and sways with wind like it did in this test.

Yes, but how bout rules on amendments. Is this amendment in any way related to cost cutting? I doupt it.

Oh come on. SCO licensed MYSQL to include it in their UNIX distribution. This isn't exactly some sort of secret plot.

Obvious. Though the similaries in the color choices are interesting.
