When you create software you choose its license. Many people will probably continue to use the old GPL simply to avoid this "feature". IBM for example wouldn't dare touch this new GPL. This will most likly cause the kernel to use the old GPL, as well as any project that hopes to get corperate help.
I've played many difficult modern games. Most of them are simply just difficult, aka tactical shooters. They might be fun after months of practice. While pac-man is fun the first time you play it, and not frustrating like many modern games are.
You know, its good to see that you and other people on this site have the same problem. What really disturbing is I can't find any review site that has done a failure rate analysis... Like its not a problem..
Yes microsoft is eating SOME cost, but they can't be eating more than $100 or so. This means that they must be getting the components very cheaply. If they are using a higher than top of the line video card, NVidia has to be eating some of this cost.
What gets me is how these companies are releasing systems for the price of the graphics cards in them. Wonder if the individual component makers are getting a cut from the licensing as well in order to sell cheaper? Or possibly its simply the promise that they will be able to sell graphics chip X for years are virtually no price cut. Something unheard of in the graphics card industry.
Hold on... Isn't governments bottom line = taxes? Yes they probably didn't do it to LOWER taxes, but this will allow savings that can lead to tax dollars being spent on the local economy rather than go to Microsoft. Or atleast be put to better use in some way. Like filling up the gas tanks for state vehicles...:/
Ptoblem is I work with juvenile prison and department of education data. You wouldn't believe the amount of made up social security numbers expecially in the juvenile prison settings, I once saw a kid that had a SSN of 100000000 at 2 different schools in two different districts. hundreds of kids share 999999999 btw.
I have found this to be sadly true. My coworkers are college professors who often publish papers on social trends using large datasets obtained from government records. I am frequently pointing out errors in their analysis (mainly that they simply don't look at their data, such as just because Jane Doe and John Doe have the SSN they are assumed to be the same person) but I'm generally ignored or told to fix it myself though that isn't my job. They are more interested in getting something published and don't want to have to retract something.
No I have no personal problem with the these facts, I am just saying that the legal users are being punished because of the predominance of illigal usage. Most people have some to accept that the net in general has porn. They may attempt to filter out the porn, but generally leave net access available. And yes the existance of porn on the net does make using the library more difficult as its filters are often obtrusive. As well as speeders make driving difficult as well. Both of which would be a nice to have removed, but I can't expect such things to happen. Anyways I'm talking in circles, the original point was a PR one as the other poster mentioned, not a serious suggestion that all illigal activity will ever stop.
Exactly, PR. The point is that Bittorrent has worked hard to maintain the status of a legal file trading protocol. It is still blocked by many campus firewalls and some ISPs though because of its connection with illigal trading. AKA pirate bay
Personally I'm happy to see these people gone. Most likly the ones leaving Bittorrent are the illigal traders. Bittorrent needs these people like a hole in their firewall. Good riddence.
Why? Isn't that the point of a Hobby? Generally something different that makes you an individual. Many resume experts suggest putting a hobby in, as long as its not something that might offend or scare someone off. I don't see how pinball would do either, and I'd personally be intrigued by said persons skill.
Well its government data to begin, its really surprising that government agencies don't secure peoples confidential info very well. Us shredding backups is something we do on our own, not something that really checked into from the upper level.
Winning X-Prize +$10M Estimated cost of SS1 -$20M deal with virgin +50M estimated cost of virgin deal unknown probably around the $50M that got invested.
Yep I just got a CD shedder the other day for deleting our buisness backups. I wonder if its possible to puzzle together the bits and reconstruct anything???.
Believe it or not there are plenty of honest but foolish people who will walk through a door that is not locked and assume this is ok. For instance I had a honest but strange indian (from india) neighbor who would come over and simply walk in un-announced if the door wasn't locked. We assumed it was just a cultural thing, but strange never the less.
I still don't see what chat has to do with searching? Though I guess its the logic of Gmail being search based, and chat being an extention of Gmail. Not that I really believe this mind you.
As EVERYONE one else mentioned they are suing over their copyrighted photos that other websites have stolen, that google is indexing.. They should sue the other websites, but google is more prodominate.

So point is.. submitter is an idiot?

With high gas prices.. Of course.
Ok I'm really trying here... But I don't get it.

Oh ok.. thats understandable. As I would be personally intrigued by an otherwise mature individual who was devoted to pinball.
