IT only moderately sucks to other jobs. IT for example is harmless to cooking jobs.
Yes, it can be stressfull, but other jobs can be also. Make sure that you have a passage in your contract that allows you to compensate overtime with paid vacation, then it's not as bad.
IT jobs can be quite nice, if you also have lot's of contact in your job to people outside of your usual IT contacts (IT-PL, BA, Developers). Those people think you are a magician when you do black magic tricks (for example a pivot table) with their outlook sheets, and invite you to their department parties.
I'm a geek and a lot of my collegues are geeks to. While we work mostly with tech stuff, most of us are realy into nature stuff for a change, like growing plants etc. For example, my hobby is chili farming and cooking fiery meals.
I recently read an article about belgian WWI weapon disposal, and that's exactly the way they do it (for non chemical munition). Twice a day during week days they dig in loads of munition and blow it up.
Why not just refuel them during flight. A nuclear engine sounds very dangerous. Are there even fans invented that could run for a week without a break?
It would be cooler if NASA invents a anti gravity engine, that runs with waste (like the BTF car):)
There is an article in the german Linux Magazinthat gives some explanation about new 'version mixing', 'downgrading' possibilities in the new apt software under 'woody' (sorry only german language). So you can keep your base system stable and add some additional software from 'testing' or 'unstable', or you can try the 'testing/unstable' release, and if those releases are too buggy, you can downgrade to 'woody' again.
I do not use Cinelerra for myslef, because I have currently no need in video software. My post was just a guide to an application under linux, may it be good or bad. So anyone is invited to post his/her opinions about this application (considering the use and recommended system of this application (it's something different, if it crashed under a 64MB System with a 233Mhz CPU, which isn't in the specification, than crashes under the recommended system for the recommended users and purpose)
I do not know VirtualDub (because I run Linux only).
But you may check out Cinelerra an advanced compositing and editing system for native Linux at no cost to users.
Second point. They are addresing that you need to use big photorealistic icons. Not true. Photorealistic icons are not simple and preety. I agree, first look is gorgeous, but from users point of view, carton like friendly icons are much closer to non-pro user. Second the sizes needed to look cool for photorealistic icons are automaticaly bigger that sizes needed for handdrawn ones. It's the question of on-screen space and memory needed for program. Programs with larger images are automaticaly slower.
As a passionate hobby cartoon drawer I have to disagree with you on this point. Yes, cartoon like icons maybe look like it's for children, but IMHO the look of a icon is only the second point. The more important point is to describe what this button does. Cartoons tends to focus more onto the action/situation than the look.Cartoons reduces the action to the most important part of the action, while photorealistic stuff usually has a stronger point in interpretation / imagination than cartoons (which I realy like too, but not in this context). The art of UI-Design is to show the user what's the situation and the possible actions without distracting them from the real work with nifty photorealistic graphics that depends on interpretation.
When Napster still existed in it old form, I discovered new bands and music very easely and most times I did buy their CD's (although it was very difficult to find them in the CD shops, because those Shops usualy just got the forced mainstream stuff).
Now, I'm rarely buying new CD's, instead I go to live concerts. Most of the CD's in switzerland costs around 32.- swiss francs and that's the same or even more than you have to pay for a live concert.
I disagree. Most of the books published after Tolkien's death are great and really interesting.
The Silmarillion, Historical Atlas of Middle Earth, Elfish Language/Grammar Book gives you a better point of view what J.R.R. Tolkien had created.
Yeah, I agree! I read his book in my most miserable time of my life (i felt like I was the rain god!;-)), and it made me smile. The funniest thing was his way of thinking and his strange fantasies. The book got burned in my brain patterns and until then I feel totally confortable. The only problem is that this leeds some times to realy strange stupid incindents!;-)
If I would be in a Death-Metal band this would be the title of our CD, and from every sold CD we would donate 1 Dollar to an assasin to kill some RIAA Guys. That's called good marketing, because this would increase our credibility as a DEATH(-Metal) band!;-) If they use our methods to attack some so called haxors (;-)) we would choose their methods to buy some assasins!

The decreasing of board members from 9 to 6 members should only be allowed if there is a big election of all at large members who can elect the 6 board members. Otherwise the whole democratic process behind the ICANN system is just a fake! I am realy suspicious about the pseudo democratic elections at at-large. Maybe an alternativ root dns server might help, but I am have not too much convinience in that ( i would realy miss the sience servers (universities etc.) but the rest goes up in my ass!). I wonder what would happen if there is a large (lets say a majority of internet users/providers) which make their own regulations organization. I wonder if these laws would been accepted by countries. I think it wouldn't because the big companies lobbys put too much money in the politicans asses! I think it is time to make some real grass root politics in the context of the internet. At least it was our way to freely communicate.
I think people around here are starting to wise up and understand the total lack of danger in nuclear plants
Yeah, Tschernobyl and now Temellin show that nuclear are realy safe.:-(
What about solar power plants? I thought that california has a very high sun/good weather rate, so the plants should be running effecient.
Building such plants will probably also be a good investion for your local hightech economy (Silicon Valley).
I'm sure that the corporations and their Admins will like this feature. To setup/resetup a PC they either will have to move the PC's in front of the firewall or they will have to open their firewalls.

Or, does anybody know how to create a DivX Movie from sequences cut with iMovie?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Who needs religions when they can have pan galactic gargleblasters, endless parties with nice girls, fancy drinks and funny snacks?
