Just to be devial addvocate. Doesnt iTunes lock you to iTunes and iPod due to its AAC format? I would love to buy music online I am just affaid in 3 years I will not ba able to play those songs because the app becomes defunct.
I use and love IE becasue if its intregration into Windows. I like that I can type in a URL anywhere and I get there. The problem I have is that my daughter got a few viruses due to those damn IE holes just by browsing websites. I only go to sites I trust so I do not mind the danger but I cannot tell here which sites are good and bad so I installed Firebird for her and told windes to deny access to IE. Well guess what if you happen to type in a URL in a Explorer windows it goes to the site in IE. I thought it would launch the default application for URL. So I told here never to do that and to first click the flame icon (firebird) before browsing the web.
Ya I just skimmed the article, I hate reading pages and pages of boring text. Thanks for pointing out that tidbit of text. It kinda makes sense. If I worked next to machinery I would go buy my own saftly googles if they did not provide then.
I hate the US goverment hatred for the "commies" in China. I wish China the best of luck over these tough times to make their country better.
I was looking at the pictures of the assembly line an noticed something. No safety equipment, primarly no safety glass. They work next to heavy machinery and where no gallses to protect there eyes. Also no guards on equipment no handrails, no painting masks. I am surprised they have gloves. Just shows how far behind China is, probally 100 years behind the US. Probally why it is so cheap to build stuff there. No OSHA like rules, no labor laws about pay. I do commend China for building up there economy by manufacturing but I did not realize how much more advanced the US was.
Saw this lawsuit coming a mile away. Waht the hell is ICANN doing anyways, nothing I tell you NOTHING! You think they would set strict rules so this kind of stuff does not happen.
I pay $12 for a CD NOW at Target. Why would anyone pay full MSRP at some lame music store. Big problem is that most CD have 2-3 good songs on them and most other suck, filler I think they are called. That is why people like downloading. Get only the good stuff.
Laptops are useless. What a waste of money. How about actually teaching the kids.

I would have to agree. All my professional life has been writing web-based apps. My current company has been for years trying to move everything to web-based so that way we aren't looked down to a certain desktop OS. The problem is that our new CRM uses a lot of Javascript to do all the complex stuff a web page can't do, so complex it only works right in 1 browser, guess which one. Thats right IE. This totally destoys the previous vision. My CIO knows jack shit and I will laugh when this all fails. I just jumped ship, away from the web department and to security department. I saw that ship sinking.
I had a coworker that wanted to buy a powerful laptop to code on. She is an MQ programmer so needed MQSeries, DB2 and other things installed.
She saw a good deal on a Sony laptop and purchased it. It came wiht XP Home and when she tried to install DB2 it would not stating that it would only work on XP Pro or other Server level OS.
Ok that was first bump. She went out and bought the XP Pro upgrade, which would not overlay Home. She had to wipe the drive and install from scratch.
After the install was done about half of the hardware did not work as the drivers were not in XP Pro. They were things like the USB controller, Modem, Video card. Sony's website had no drivers and tech supprt was no help "that laptop come with XP Home, I cant give you seperate drivers, its all on the restore disc" which did not even come wihtt he computer, you had to pay $10 for it. LAME.
Well in the end she gave up and took it back and took the hit on the 15% restocking fee ($300) and bought a custom built Dell.
I would be mad if I were Hormel. SPAM is trademarked by them and everyone uses the name for junk e-mail. Which is exactly what it should be called. We call the mail in our mailboxes "Junk Mail" so just call it "Junk E-mail".
And this is a bad thing? We can wipe out crashes once we get all the cars to drive themselves. I can't wait for the day.
Most people are crappy drivers, and don't think anyways. I am always being tailgated in heavy traffic. "Where are you going to go", they need to pass me and get in my 2 car length space for no reason. I deal with these jerks everyday.
Bring on the automation I say, as long as it runs QNX, hehe.
I hate these books for exactly as the reviewer says. Theyare not for dummies, they make you feel like a dummy.
Back in 94/95 when I first got into HTML, the first book I bought was HTML for Dummies. It made no sense. Most of book was about theroies and unerlying technoloy. I wanted to know how to say "Hello World" in HTML. Went out and bought "How to use HTML 3" which was very grachical and I learned quickly. Ever since I have told people not to but "For Dummies" books, try the in 24 hours or any Oreilly book.
I have not had full blown Carpel Tunnel but I have had pain in my left wrist on and off and it is caused by holding dishes while washing them. I am right handed and I figued all the mouse movement would do it, but m left had is the one in pain. I think it only happens to the "typist" that type 80wpm, 8 hours/day.
What is the deal they improve everything but remove a good thing. My kids have an old GBA and the head phone jack is the only reason I let them play it near me. Nintendo screwed up big time by removing that.
I just did my first site with stylesheet font size. At first I set it to 12pt and then I noticed it did not resize. I hate that. Sometimes I crank the font size to the largest on slashdot and recline in my chair.
I found that if I use x-small, small, medium, large, x-large, etc. that then it can be resized. The hard part was matching the sizes. small = 12pt x-small = 10pt medium = 14pt. Try to use the keywords like that and it help your readers that like it smaller or larger.
And kudos and the good design and proper use of xhtml. If your not running the latest browser you should not be on the web so screw tables.
It seems to me they are trying to milk the cow while they can. Everyone is hooked on windows so lets screw everyone as long as possible and get as much money as possible. Thats' what is seems like to me.
I bought a HP 855C for $500 back in the day. That thing was pretty good. Finally a roller fell out and I could not figure out how to get it apart to get it back in so now the paper feed crooked. The kids use it now. I replaced it with a HP 842C for $150 and I love this printer. I don't print much but it is working great, yes it is cheaper built but it was 1/4th the cost and it actually prints faster and higher res.
I had a Canon BJC-6000 before the 855C and it sucked. I will only buy HPs if only for the way the paper loads.
I would have to second that. The same has happened to me. I have had a TiVo for about 2 years now. Instead of watching whatever is on at the time that I can watch TV I instead only watch the shows I want to see. No more channel surfing and my TV viewing is half it was in the Pre-TiVo days. I bet that keeps TV exec up at night.
I dont get it. I love Star Trek. I like the "universe" of the future and how the many shows and movies intertwine. Out of all the shows I dilike are TOS, and the first few years of TNG.
I never got into DS9, but I did watch the full last season and I liked it. I loved Voyager and Enterprise and the later years of TNG.
Gene had a good vision but the shows sucked under him. I seen to be only one in the world to actually like the whole Voyager series and totally dislike TOS, The Original Series had bad sets, bad acting and lame stories. But I dilike anything old, maybe that was just Sci-fi in the 60s... crappy.
Of course I dislike Buffy and SG-1 as well, so maybe I am differnet breed od sci-fi freak. FYI, I love Lexx and Farscape, both gone, time to cancel TV service.

Cartoon Network!
Cartoons 24/7, why the need for afternoon and saturday morning cartoons when we have them all day and night long.
Ya, we have POP3, why not SMTP2 or how about FTP2 that has encryption built in.
