  1. No such thing in our legal system on Microsoft Windows Media Player Encryption Hacked · · Score: 2, Informative

You're mistaken - we don't use Case Law in Norway. Our legal tradition is Scandinavian/continental civil law - where precedents are very weak arguments as opposed to the US/UK Common Law system.

  2. A European View on Sony Describes DS As Gimmick · · Score: 1

I couldn't agree more - I bought my PSP (JP) from Hong Kong several months ago with several titles. Wipeout, was one of them of course. The only reason I bought it was for the Wifi, I foresaw the homebrew scene would create enough software for me to use it as a handheld. While I have several laptops they're often too large to drag around. And I don't really use my Palm any longer since I purchased the SonyEricsson P900. Nice as the P900 is - it lacks Wifi. Even with the free GPRS my subscription provides - I would still like the ability to browse the web on the WLANs around my University. For the time being I have no use for the PSP - it's quitely gathering dust. I'm not upgrading to the 2.0 firmware - that's for sure.

That's exactly my thoughs on the subject. Ericsson would probably like to get out of the mobile business anyway. Just like Siemens dumped their phones on BenQ.

Just a typo in my above post, I meant version 1.6 of course. And as I said they were new boxes manufactured in 2005 that ought to have been clue enough. It's not likely that they would produce v1.4's in 2005. And, no, it wasn't refurbished either.

That's certainly NOT the case - I bought two new 2005 model Xboxes this year (v1.4). Modded just fine thank you very much. And I still use the same game :)

Take one game, that I really wanted and bought secondhand for $20, insert memory stick with fake savegame on it - voilà!
Didn't open it once to install Linux and XBMC.

What I heard on BBC was that they were there to warn the people that there might be a suicide bomber in the area... that's the real tragedy.

And the militias have been around since the war began. Remember a man called [Shi'a cleric] Al-Sadr? As in Sadr City (formerly Saddam City) area of Baghdad? Well he has been well behaved - and kept his men from attacking both the Sunnis and US forces. He knows that a civil war is the WORST thing that could happen. WHAT THE DO YOU THINK THE TERRORISTS WANT??? THEY WANT A CIVIL WAR! Militias are NOT good for Iraq - a civil war would destroy the country - and break it apart.

  9. The World needs China to do this before democracy on China Planning For Sustainable Cities · · Score: 1

The whole World needs to shake up things on a massive scale at some point in time - the way we live is obviously not good for the planet. Now this can be done gradually for the RICH nations - but for the most populous nation on the planet? No, we should be thankful China isn't a democracy right now - because they can hopefully drive through painful remedies we can't! China has an obligation to it's own citizens to do it BEFORE they are given democracy. If democratic rules were applied they would never be able to change - and that would not only mean a danger to China's wealth and health - but that of the whole world!

The truth is Slashdot is filled with EU-hating British. I believe there now exists a new law along the lines of "If you mention the EU, the British readers will post hatefull, irrelevant replies".

The EU is hardly out of touch when it tries to combat a monopoly for the benefit of it's citizens? Then again what could the EU demand of Microsoft? Remove Windows from the market? I believe they tried really hard at finding a good solution - but as someone already pointed out - people are lazy.

P.S. I wish Britain really would leave the EU, good riddance!
