Sure, your hidden FORM field is OK on your personal homepage or a simple single-task website, but once on a complex site, this method is crap.

I used to be the guy in charge of maintaining an internet bank website that used this very technology - storing user variables and passing the information between pages by means of JavaScript (one that had to work with IE, Netcrap, PC, Mac, Linux) - and it is pure and simple HELL!

I guess a large portion of the problem was that the web server had no scripting language, so everything had to be done either client-side (JavaScript) or in the low-level business tier (COBOL) or database tier (PL/1). *puke* I'm actually glad im unemployed now instead of being back in that job...

Shouldn't the same development process be possible to use for robot controller SW? You will of course have to change the physiological input parameters (the robot you are constructing will most likely NOT have the same muscles as a human body), but the process should be the same, and the resulting controlling algoritm would be better at controlling the robot walk (move) than a human-constructed program.

It might be important in /. polls, and It's obviously an important fact for a lot of zealots in this place. But in every other context this is simply semantics - referring to the OS as Unix WILL SUFFICE! When taking to my co-workers, I might refer to it as Unix, *nix, Unix-based OS or even OpenBSD - depending on the technical knowledge of that co-worker - and the context of the conversation. To my manager, I will always refer to the OS as Unix. When speaking to my mother I'm working with computers.

What we are witnessing now is not war. What we are witnessing is the single most powerful military force on the face of the earth attacking a small, ill-equipped, obsolete, unmotivated army.

In addition, much of the casualties will not be directed at military targets, but will strike the civilian population - a population that has already had to endure a gruesome dictator, 10 years of famine, countless years of war, etc.

I was planning on citing numbers here, but I won't. Everyone knows that Iraq doesn't have a fighting chance.
